New Pool + Cabana + Putting Green - Lucas, TX

That deck looks great. One of the PB's we met with suggested stamped without a seal and we were skeptical. We have a few neighbors with sealed stamped and it's too slick even with the grit they put in there.

What are the dimensions of your cabana? Will it just be a covered area or are you doing a kitchen out there?

The cabana is 16' wide and 14' deep. There won't be a kitchen or fireplace out there as we already have that stuff under the patio connected to the house.

The back wall of the cabana will be closed in with a wooden wall to help block out the house behind us), and I'm debating whether or not to hang a tv on that wall. I have an older 55" from my old house that I'm not using now so why not, right?

Here's the original design. In actuality the wall won't have any stone at the bottom... too expensive!

Here is a sample pic the cabana builder shared with me on what the wall will look like. (I am not using the PB to build cabana).

What is that white stuff between the two different stone?

Plaster TODAY???? OH yeah! Now you know what I am going to say........make sure you are there when the truck gets there to make sure they have the correct color and any extras you asked for.

Glad to see things are moving in the right direction! You will have some swimming weather to really enjoy the pool for a while! SWEET!

So... today didn't go as planned. Yet another communications mix up with my PB... plaster didn't happen today and won't happen tomorrow either. :-(

I haven't been totally transparent with some of the issues I've had with the PB. Today was super frustrating.

To answer your question, Kim... the white stuff is a strip of foam they glue in place at the time they build forms and install rebar. Its purpose is to leave a buffer for the expansion joint that they installed a few days later. It's used anywhere that concrete adjoins with stone (i.e. coping and runners)

Here's a pic showing the crew as they install the foam...

Here's a close up of the foam...

Here's the same pic taken today. Notice the foam is gone replaced with a flexible expansion joint.

Gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:ncool::hammer::shark::thumbdown::pukel::brickwall::taped::twisted: There! I think that about covers how you must have felt when you did not get plaster yesterday.

Awwww that looks MUCH better! I was SO hoping the white was not the end point!

Look Kim! The cabana is casting some nice afternoon shade on the deep end! The vision is coming to life before my eyes...

PLASTER TOMORROW!!

Yay for shade over the pool!!! That is where you will be parking your pool float lol. Your pool is awesome!! I know dealing with PBs can be frustrating. I think nearly everyone has some issues no matter which builder you choose. I think you made a great choice. :)

Here's a few close ups of the cabana (not quite complete)

Here's a pic of the rain descent built into the roofline that hangs out over the pool.

This one is cool. If you look above you'll see the rear posts are 8x8 cedar. But the front posts pictured here are smaller steel posts. That's because they need to run the plumbing that you see up each post to the rain descent. There's a pipe at each front post that are driven by a dedicated Jandy Stealth pump (the waterfall is fed by a second Jandy stealth pump). After they plumbing is connected they will "wrap" the steel posts and plumbing so it appears identical to the rear posts... 8x8 cedar

Glad to hear about the cladding - Love the cedar. We can't really get that here. We have redwood but it isn't as nice imo.

75% LOL Where is the other 25%? Are they waiting on the plaster truck to show up??

What is on top of the cabana? It does not look like shingles.

Kim:kim:

Hahaha!! That pic of the kids (the real owners of the pool) was late yesterday afternoon, while I was still at the office. Notice all the shade!! Kids sitting in the money spot too!! I dunno where #4 was... probably inside playing Xbox. Lol. I had to work late so my wife and kiddos had a picnic dinner under the new cabana!

The roof is still bare. They are installing shingles today that will match our house. It will be interesting to see how they work around the plaster crew who arrived at 630am this morning.

The cabana is beautiful, and the build of it is interesting! Thanks for sharing that! I would love looking up at those beams - you have a comfy sofa or lounger to lie back on for looking up! Lol!!!

I knew from your initial plans your build would be a great one, but it's turning out even more incredible!!

So glad you're sharing it all!
Suz

Love the idea of the post being made to match the others. I did not notice the difference in sizes until you talked about it THEN it stood out big time! You will love having these pics of it in the future if it needs any work.

Dinner by the new pool while dad is working to pay for it NOT fair!!!

6:30 am???? OUCH! Did they show up on time?

Yes, the crew showed up bright and early. Here are a few pics I captured (work from home today).
