Heaven! I see MANY good times in that pool!

I would LOVE the rock table. Just think of sitting on the beach with the rock to hold your drinks (in PLASTIC cups only) NO glass in the pool!

Kim

Thanks!!

I love It! What is the big rock for on the tanning ledge? I see them all the time, but wasn't sure.

Its a jumping rock / umbrella holder / table :)

Oh wow! Looks incredible!

What color is your pebble finish? Love it.

Thanks!

I love your pool. It's one of my favorites here at TFP.

Just wondering, now that you've been using the pool/spa for a few weeks, are you satisfied with the number of jets in the spa? Our spa will be just like yours (8' round) and we can't decide between 6 jets and 8...

Very happy with 6 jets, if your going to have a large group of people in the spa regularly you may want 8, 6 works for us very well, rarely do we have more then 4 of us in the tub and during a party if the spas packed it doesn't seem to matter.

They varied the height of the spa seating by about 3 inches on either side of the main step for half the spa for a higher seating area in half the spa. m not the huge fan of that but my wife loves it, something we didn't ask for but they did day of plaster. so I have varied heights of jets and varied heights of seating.

WOW! I will tell you it's the continued stories like this that have my wife and I on the fence with building a pool. I can even get the prospective builder in the number 1 slot to give me a rendering of the pool when I provided a detailed outline drawing of the pool. Sorry for your nightmare.

There are really great PB's out there, but you do have to be sooo careful. And even then, there's no guarantee.

Do your research, read this forum and others, and talk to tile/stone companies, gunite/shotcrete companies, and other subs.

Thank you, Justin, for sharing your story. You're helping me and others learn what to look for in PB's and workmanship.

Wishing ya'll the best! Suz.

Don't worry about that, its a short period of time, maybe you will get a good builder and have no headaches, either way its still well worth it! Best thing I have done since becoming a homeowner years ago. However if you have the time, and literally it doesn't take much as illustrated by my builder you can sub it all out yourself and be fine. Just use reputable workers, permits at least in our area are super cheap, literally I don't know how the city doesn't charge more for how many times they came out it barely covers their gas and workers hourly rate if that.

Overall again I have a beautiful end product. I just expect to be kept in the loop and informed, not a lot to ask. Little things like them deciding to tier the seating in my hot tub at plaster without consulting infuriate me, its nice but not what we expected or planned on having.

Agreed, I am sure there are. It wasn't my experience for communication, integrity to do the job right and timely with these guys

But it is a **** beautiful end product!

Even with all the bs and them expecting full pay without fixing my drainage and two completely different colored stone walls. Thats ok because now I can enjoy my pool without twiddle dee an dum showing up at random times to tell me things will get done that done.

Update:

Finally got the rock guys back out yesterday, they redid the lip and prepped slide for a new coat of sealant. Sheets like a beauty finally without running the pump at 3450 rpm. Now I can get it down to around 1750- 2000rpm, which for electric use is the difference of about 2690 Watts per hr vs 700 watts per hour. Huge difference and now it can run longer efficiently as planned. Fingers crossed they paint it better this time

Wow, wow, wow! I am so glad you posted that detailed description of what happened. I had considered calling them, but was waiting to see how your build was going. I am with Titan7, we are still on the fence about building a pool, and hearing stories like yours makes me cringe.

May I make a suggestion, and please post your experience on sites like Yelp, Angie's List and Houzz? While I know those sites can't always be trusted, as they have sneaky ways of burying the bad reviews, you'd be doing a world of good if someone came across your experience who did not know of this wonderful website!

to any other home owner be sure you have every lein release with that final payment said:
do u mind explaining this more? i have read it and didn't follow through with it and l hearing u say it now i don't understand it. is it from the subs or the pb?

what a nightmare and the fact that u will have to pay in full so and take them to court?!... it's too bad it's not ok to withhold the last 5% until they fix the probs. what can happen if u do so? thanku

The issue can be that the PB COULD put a lien on your house and that's a whole 'nother matter. Litigation may be needed but getting the correct completion on them vs. you for sure!

Wow - I am sorry you have had such a difficult time! But WOWZERS it is just BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs to you for all the stress - time for a drink and a float.
