New Pool Build - Conroe, TX - LOTS of pics! Come say hi Y'all.

Looking great! Our dig was much uglier - which gave my wife and I great heartburn over the last 4-5 days. Hindsight, starting on a Monday is great! I know you are probably sweating the forecasts. It looks like the rain chances have gone down dramatically. That was half of our heartburn here. Can't wait to have our shell in and done!

Best wishes!

Let's just face it, you are a high stress person from what I can tell. :) Every other post (maybe I'm being generous here) contains the word stress! All in good humor. It is a stressful process but just imagine going through the process without TFP, that would be stressful. Good luck controlling adult beverage intake...yoga anyone?

They worked through the rain and got it stubbed out! I guess the next step is gunite?

I went with less jets - so the pressure would be more - we are only having 1/2 bench - and a walk up to where the spillway goes onto the tanning ledge.

Lights - it was hard to find good spots for the lights . . . I hope this works the way I think it will.

Actually - I am pretty sure if I hadn't found this forum - I would have just picked a pool builder and blindly assumed that everything would be okay! I wouldn't have ever thought to go and stress over every detail! But I see so many pools getting royally screwed up on here that I have become very vigilant! So . . . it's kinda TFP's fault. Just sayin'.
:lovetfp:

I am planning on going to celebrate Cinco De Mayo in grand style tonight with a Jumbo Margarita! YEAH!

That's nothing! At least you have solid walls. And... a PB! What I will tell you is that this is your PB's problem. You should sit back and know that it is on him to make it right. My problem is that I am the PB... So I have to eat all the missteps. It looks like I am going to get hit a bit on the gunite, but we shall see. In the end, I'm sure it will all be worth it. For you though, I wouldn't sweat it. Feel free to ask the PB how he will fix it and make sure you are happy with his answers, but I find that a good PB has his subs bending over to take care of him.

So far this has been a great experience! Minus the weather. I mean we have been in drought for what seems like 100 years and I pick the year we decide to make up for it to build a pool! Gotta Love it!

I could Never, ever, in a million years - do my own - that would be stressful! BUT I bet you will end up with exactly what you WANT!

Your pool design looks great. My only regret was not going larger on the pool perimeter decking. Our two brittanys don't care to swim but since we have an electric pet door that uses transmitters in their collars its all good. plus no wet dog running around inside the house.

I have 4 dogs - the German Shorthair loves to swim - but never in a pool - she jumps into any pond - but it's usually going after a bird of some sort. Two of my min pins really dislike water - but I am hoping they will come around. I have one Min Pin that copies the German Shorthair. She follows her into the deep ponds after the birds - so I think she might enjoy it. In the beginning, I could totally envision them laying on the tanning ledge with me. Now that you say that about the doggie door - my dogs all have free range and use a doggie door. I HOPE they don't love it to the point they go and cool off, then come jump in bed with us!

Looks like you picked a good builder. This one is going about as fast as I've ever seen on the forum, and I used to watch a bunch of them.

Congrats on the fast job!

Patrick, I honestly thought they were just trying to shmooze me into signing when they said once I get on the schedule they move fast - I picked them because I loved their design from the beginning (the Pinterest pool of my dreams was by them - that is actually how I found them). Then once I did some research I realized they have build a few pools on TV and I felt like they would have to be pretty darn good to be able to do that. They were a little higher than some of my other quotes - but not by much.

I have a feeling we are going to be in a holding pattern now waiting on Modern Method for gunite. The weather is still rain, rain, rain. I am so excited that we are where we are right now - that I am not even stressed about when the gunite gets here!

Happy to see you guys moving forward. My building experience was an emotional rollercoaster. Happy, sad, mad, frustrated, irritated. but it all will work out in the end. You guys will spend much time outside enjoying your pool. So far I'm loving the pool lifestyle! We spend so much time outside during the summer we save money on our AC bill! lol.

My thoughts for the day

I think it is weird the relationships we build on here - - - I kinda feel like you guys are my "friends" and we should be able to recognize each other when we bump into each other in the local Walmart and discuss the current cost of Bleach

I wish that one of you experienced Pool "Friends" were my neighbors so you can come and check in on my build when I am gone!

Yeah - I said gone. I am going on 2 vacations this month -we cruise on Carnival a couple times a year (convenient and inexpensive for us Houston folks) I actually got a Casino offer for free cruises - I can go on as many as I want between January and July - I just have to pay taxes and fees. Well, before we scheduled the pool - I booked 3 cruises. I went on the first one the beginning of March. I leave on the 18th of this month with some gal pals for 5 days and then come back for a week and leave again on the 31st with the hubby for 7 days. We hire my nephew to come live here and take care of my babies while we are gone - but do I trust him to make decisions on pool stuff?? Heck, I am not sure I trust my hubby to make those decisions. I am trying to decide if I want to tell my PB we want to halt during those times - - - or if we can just go with it.

Rodog, I am pretty sure that I will hit the rollercoaster as well. I can't imagine it is all going to be rainbows and butterflies. I am trying to be realistic - so far, so good, other than the rain. It has been drizzly all day yesterday and today. I keep watching the walls and asking them - outloud - "Please don't cave in. Pretty Please."

I have been following your pool build and it started about the same time as mine. I live further south than you but we have a ton of rain that has setback our build as well. But I wanted to say how happy you should be at the progress because mine is a fiberglass pool that should have been done a LONG time ago and your build is WAY further along than mine is. My PB guys appear to have 2 speeds--slow and stop.

We are trying our best to be patient but it is hard when you see guys standing around half the time or on the phone or just not bothering to show up at all. Very frustrating.

So bottom line is be happy, your PB has it going on and is SUPER FAST.

Oh NO! What a bummer! Hopefully they will get all their ducks in a row and kick it into high gear! This rain is something else.

Looking at your build pics brings back memories from back 9 years ago during our build. I took many pics but didn't know anything about TFP if it even existed back then. We went with a local PB that was highly recommended by many in our area and had built several of our neighbors pools and also the model home.

We had just moved in and were probably a little over anxious to "get swimming" and let him pretty much "roll with it" after we got right on the price.
With hindsight always 20/20, we probably would have changed a few things, but all in all we were pretty satisfied with our build, style and how it came out.

Hopefully the rain will hold off for you and they can shoot the gunite soon. These are exciting times for you and even gets me to pull up my build pics for a little nostalgia tour. Keep us posted, Wendy.
