New Pool Build - Conroe, TX - LOTS of pics! Come say hi Y'all.

Today has been eventful. I heard Zoe, one of my min pins alerting me (she has a different bark for danger). Stepped out the back door and she was barking at TWO Copperheads curled up at the backdoor. The hubs killed them & we checked the dogs, Bella was really swollen.

Normally dogs can survive snake bites even from poisonous snakes but the bite was on the muzzle and swelling fast so we took her to the ER.

They did blood work and it came back as high as it gets. Which means it's affecting her clotting factor and could kill her. So she's getting anti-venom, fluids, pain meds, antibiotics, anti inflammatory & nice over-priced stay. By the time they started she was having respiratory problems but she's improved slightly in the last couple of hours.

lol. I didn't even think about that! He's crazy! I recorded from INSIDE the house.

Hoping for a quick recovery for Bella, beautiful girl.

Liked the nonchalant approach from your husband. I'll go get them copperheads with my trusty trash picker and flip flops, no big deal, ha.

Update from vet - she is doing good and is possibly the sweetest patient they have ever had! She is in pain but ONLY whimpers when she "sees" a tech and they go over and love on her. ;) they are repeating the coag test around midnight to see if she needs a second vial of anti venom.

Yes, it is as expensive as people say. Glad we've been saving for a storage shed.

What a crazy 24 hours. Bella didn't turn around after the first round of antivenin so we started a 2 new round. She was transferred to a different vet clinic at 7AM to finish her meds and fluids. They retested at 3, after finishing the second vial and her numbers finally recovered! She is in for a long week, but she is expected to recover!

The trip to get her at 7 for the transfer was a story in itself. The storms that hit last night, hit hard. We spent part of the night in the closet - our phones said we were in a direct path of a tornado. I've never seen storms like this. It was a constant boom of thunder for hours and hours. The house shook and the sky was like strobe lights. I didn't sleep at all, I didn't even try.

We had to be in Conroe at 7 to transfer my baby and the roads were flooded. I'm talking big roads. We left super early to try to find our way and took long meandering roads to get there. It was seriously scary folks. We made it fine, saw lots of flooded out vehicle and roads.

Now, on a side note and TOTALLY TFP related, my pool almost flooded. I was too stressed last night to take any pics but this morning I took a couple when we got home. I'm seriously so glad I paid the extra to have drainage for the pool and the back yard ran to the street.

My subdivision was hit hard. Roads/driveways under water and water up to doorsteps but no homes flooded. It just rained so hard, for so long there was no where for the water to go. We aren't in a flood zone just too much water.

The level was down a lot from last night. But it didn't flood (I don't think) there was a ton of crud in it today that my robot picked up and a dead bird in my skimmer :(

In the closet ;)

When will Bella get to come home? I am glad to hear she has responded to the meds.

SCARY about having to drive in that. I KNOW you stayed safe.........I HATE it when someone tries to drive through water and do not make it. Do NOT even try! Find another way. Great idea to learn super early so you could back track as needed.

I did! - pulling all nighters isn't as easy as it was when I was younger! Im still kind of dazed feeling - but working with a little pup in my lap today sure helps! We are thankful to have her home!

Oh Wendy! Your poor Bella!!! I'm so glad she is recovering!!! Yikes! Not one but TWO copperheads!?! I would have a hard time going outside again. I guess there are trade offs for you gorgeous wooded surroundings.
I'm happy to see you haven't floated away or had any damage from the heavy rains.

Btw, my baby's name was Bella- great name!
