Hi,

It's my first post here, and I'm a self declared newbie to the pool space--about to fulfill a lifelong dream of having our own swimming pool.

So plan is to build a rectangular 18x40 Gunite SWG pool, 3.5 to 7.5 feet deep, with a built in spa and an autocover to cover it all. There are no additional "features" in terms of waterfalls, water sprays, etc.

I wanted to make a request for specific equipment to use on the build, and was hoping to get some feedback from the knowledgeable folks here on my following thoughts on the basic equipment:

Automation: Pentair IntelliCenter - with SWCG PowerSupply (SKU# TBD)
Filter: Pentair Cartridge - CCP520
Salt: Pentair IC60
Pump: Pentair IntelliFlo VS - 3HP (SKU# 011028)
Heater: Pentair MasterTemp 400
Lights: Pentair IntelliBrite 5g

Any feedback on the specific items and/or their capacities?

Thanks!

EDIT: Updated to reflect feedback from AJW22 and Jimrahbe

You really don’t need the F feature of the VSF pump. The IntelliFlo VS pump 011028 pump will be simpler and less troublesome.

O,

I am a Pentair kind of guy, so your equipment list looks pretty good to me..

Make sure you get the IntelliCenter the comes with the built-in SWCG power supply..

Personally, I would get the plain VS pump, 011028, instead of the VS and VF pump as I can't think of anything that "needs" the VF option. Simple is almost always better.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks this is very helpful! I will update my list.

@Jimrahbe is there an easy way to know whether or not a specific IntelliCenter comes with the SWCG power supply vs not?

Is there a specific SKU I should look out for?

(I'm a little confused by what these "Personality Kits" are that are part of the IntelliCenter descriptions)

You will find SKUs and which ones include the SWCG transformer on the Pentair website. Scroll down to specifications.

A follow-up question on the equipment choice topic: while I'm excited about the Pentair grouping here and my PB is willing to procure/install, my PB is more familiar with Hayward products and indicated that it would be easier to get post sale support for them than Pentair in our area (northern suburbs of Philadelphia.)

I was wondering if it was generally feasible to have a Hayward "equivelant" (i.e., same/similar functionality, capability, features, reliability, etc.) setup from the Pentair setup I specified in the original post? For example, I was not able to find a SWG Salt generator specified for more than 40k gallons from Hayward, which would make the min 2x actual size difficult to achieve.

Any thoughts on going the Hayward route, and specific models I should consider for an apples-to-apples comparison.

(I'm still leaning towards pushing through with the Pentair setup above, but wanted to do my homework fully before making these decisions--I'd rather not have any "I told you so" comments from the PB down the line...)
