New O/B Las Vegas needs help lol

Wow bids are coming in and I am actually shocked at how far apart some of these prices are. Doing our research on each before choosing but can't see how they can be that far apart.

Remember you can talk to them about their prices.

If you find there is one sub you really want to do the work but their prices are higher tell them! They might come down to get the job!

Skip the in floor cleaning system and get a good robotic cleaner. Look into hayward equipment but keep the jandy valves. Oversize the cartridge filter. 2 inch plumbing if you can. Make sure you select impervious tile. Just my 2 cents, good luck with everything!

I recommend the in floor system, especially in Vegas. In floor cleaners perform very well in dusty environments. My A&A system is new but it is working so well. I have friends that have in floor systems and they love them.

In floor cleaners are not looked at as favorable options east of the Rockies. In the dusty environments of the west,
They work very well.

I will say I have no personal experience in dusty environments so the commenter from AZ may have some insight I do not. But I have seen many long term maintenance problems with the in floor systems as the pool gets a bit older.

OP came by and looked at my pool and I explained to him why I didn't go in-floor (btw OP had an in-floor system prior to this build so he has first hand experience). In my research (actually speaking with local owners of in-floor) I found about 50% loved them and thought they worked great and the other 50% had to buy a robot or hire pool guy to clean pool for them as theirs didn't work or worked but still needed to be vacuumed. My next door neighbor was one of the people I spoke to so environment is exactly the same and after many tries to get it to work he ended-up buying a $1,200 robot to clean his pool.

Based on this I chose not to roll the in-floor cleaning dice.

In floor has to be designed correctly, plans have to be sent to A&A or Paramount for review and head placement. My previous pool had a barracuda which was garbage. I bought a robot and that thing was terrible it would just get stuck in the deep end, biggest waste of $900 I have ever had. It is hit or miss with anything.

QingGuy gave me the name of a great plumber that gave me a ton of info. There are pro and cons to the cleaner for sure. With me having so much wet deck, steps and benches a robot wouldn't clean it all. Also had an incident years ago with a pool where our dog got tangled in robot while in pool but luckily we were home and saw it. Plumber told me with his experience and said in one of the above posts, that if you buy a high quality cleaning system and have it designed for placement correctly and installed correctly they can be an awesome luxury for us lazy ones per say.

First really big hiccup today besides finding out how much it is actually going to cost to build the pool verse what I was told. Anyways had excavator tell me since I'm putting new concrete decking up to old decking in my city of north Las Vegas. I have to remove approx 2 inch of top dirt for all decking and repack with type 2. Said dirt has to be a total of 6inches down from top of existing patio and then refilled 2 inches. So down to building department Monday and try to get clarification.

First I thought sent everything required colors ect to be approved. Still not sure why it matters what color kool deck or my pool is in my back yard but they require. Then they wanted color of curbing around grass. So had to resubmit. Then couldn't understand how I was an owner builder. Wanted a licensed pool builder on app. Argued that saying I'm owner building. Which I can if want do some of the work which I'm not. Then I asked for a pre-approval to build pool pending building permits which turned into argument. They wanted me to pay 800 to city for permit but would t guarantee approval still. So after going round and round and round I got an approval just now pending city permit finally.
