New Northeastern Pa Build

Kristen got her furniture all out today. Looks good so far. She just needs to decorate some. Bar stools came from front gate. Fireplace set came from raymour and flannigan. The chairs recliners actually.
The wood table from plow and hearth. Just so if anyone is wondering.

Jim that looks phenomenal! You have to be happy with how everything has come out. Just in time for the nice weather coming in, hope you get to enjoy it for MDW

So some pretty big issues came up this week. We have gotten a ton of rain like a lot of you here. The humidity is now in full tilt. 2 of my bathroom walls buckled to the point that I thought the wood was going to pop right off the wall. The wood acclimated we thought. Really no way of knowing. So today Jim came down and cut out 2 pieces to relieve the pressure. The other pieces went back in. The plan is to keep it open for a few weeks to make sure the wood gets it out of its system and then piece back in bs rip out and see what happens. I have only enough wood left to do 8 boards and I really hope I don’t have to have the mill run me a small bat h cause they will kill me with the knife setup fee.

Then my ceiling bycthe grill decided to screw with me also. 8 pieces buckled. So today they removed what they needed to and redid but face nailed some boards to hopefully help a bit. So now I get to redo the whole ceiling cause I got face nail holes and nail holes from when they removed the trim pieces and reused them. Luckily I have a good amount of the sapele left.

I’m so upset. I have to redo the ceiling and I have to repaint the whole bathroom cause the rest of the walls are pretty marked up from removing the 2 boards.

The first 2 pics show how much the 1 wall buckled. It’s literally out over an inch.

Then the mess I came home to. I’m in the middle of pairing that door and jam so I had to clean off the door and the room before I got started again. I still didn’t clean up over in the kitchen. Looks like a bomb went off over there.

I literally have wanted to cry the past few days. I know it’s a first world problem but it’s the time I have put in. I have eat and slept the past 2 years for this build. I haven’t been doing anything else really. That’s what has me so upset.

I just got done cleaning up the kitchen. I have to wait till it’s light out to get a really good look at the ceiling to see my plan. My dad said live with the nail holes. He doesn’t want me to touch it. I don’t know.

The bathroom. I’m just avoiding it pretty much. Lol. When we go to Disney in a few weeks they r going to put it back together I think. So far walls are good. Flat. Nothing else has moved. The pieces that were out are flat now.

Jim I’m like you in that we both get stressed out over fixes like this. However my wife always reminds me everything can be fixed which is very true. Especially when it’s just a matter of a little time and money - not everything (health and family) is that way. Still an exceptional space and you’ll have it back in no time.

I Totally hear you. Everything I do is 200 percent and in hyper drive. My wife says the same thing. She said only I will notice. But the bathroom is pretty bad. Haha

So today I fished all day to relax. The kids had school and my wife had work but I was off so I bailed for the day. What a day. It was so windy so I couldn’t cast from the yak so I decided to troll. I have a motor on my fishing yak. I crushed it. Non stop action. I only came in cause I filled 2 stringers doubled up and was having trouble keeping the stringers away from the motor and my line getting tangled up. Ended up with 4lbs 8oz of meat. Deff one of my best days ever.

Then I came home and threw the last coat of paint on my bathroom door so that’s done. Then I decided to fill in the nail holes with a wax stick even though only I see them. And I decided to not recoat the ceiling. I touched up only the few scratches. I’m pleased.

So now it’s a waiting game for the bathroom. I’m just lucky I got guys who care about me. I’m not just a job.

Hey how u make out with Anthony sylvan? You getcthwm back to your place?B2428502-EB37-4037-9333-C453763D2EB9.jpeg927B5F44-3D9D-4101-9AA2-8CC1246E630A.jpeg

Awesome day fishing, congrats!

And yes, A&S was actually out for about 3.5 hours working with me on salt start up, working on the bubblers, pulling my lights to get the serial numbers, and troubleshooting my clogged overflow line. Salt cell is up and running, but they need to come back next week to work on the plumbing again. Let’s hope I can get the plumber out this coming week to fix my sunshelf return!

Jim you needed that down time and made great use of it! YUMMMMM How do you cook them?

You HAD to fix the nail holes for YOU. Good job.......now they will not haunt your dreams at night!

Be thankful for your friends that do so much for you. Not every one is that lucky!

Nice. I hope so too! I just got my 3rd replacement cell yesterday from pentair. I got to wait for my builder to come home this week to throw it in though. I don’t want to mess with the unions and risk a leak without him around.

Hey Jim. Ya I slept well last night. Haha.

I’m going to pan fry some for the kids. They like em that way. The others. Fish tacos with a red cabbage mango carrot slaw for them. It’s a really good recipe.

My dad got me wood up his buddy’s farm today. Oak and cherry. This weekend we r having friends over from out of town. That will be our first fire. Hopefully the fireplace works properly. Haha

I also got my automation hub setup tonight. I’m abandoning HAI which we have used for years cause they are stuck in 2006. I’m going to try and see if Vera is powerful enough for my house. Right now I have one inside my home and one in the pool house controlling 70 light loads and a few scene controllers along with my security. If it can keep up with my scenes and triggers I’ll see about using it on jobs.

How high is the humidity?

Your fireplace turned out fantastic!
Hey Brian. Thanks man! Not bad for a 68 ur old guy. Haha

Humidity is up and down daily. 3 days off the wall 2 days good.

What do you think abut my bathroom wall situation? We have the 2 pieces cut out. The others fell back into place cause the stress was relieved. Should we wait till later in the summer when it gets really hot and humid to repair it back? Will it eventually dry out and stop moving? Anything we can do to give it space for move? I figured fit it back without the T&G so it can move back and forth a bit and face nail it?

No screen. Lol. We live on the wild side.
Marshmallow sticks in storage room.
Log grabber and tools I got to still grab. Thanks for reminding me. I’m taking my parents old brass set from when we heated our house with wood when I was kid.
