New Northeastern Pa Build

I don't know how much this matters, but the other advantage to an acid injector system, is that my pH is not bouncing around as much. Same theory as using a SWG: maintain a constant FC level throughout the day, instead of shocking once a week, or even once a day. Everyone here that has pH rise sites what they let pH get up to, and what they bounce it down to, in order to maximize the number of days between dosing. That's the logical, practical solution. But everyday my pH tests at 7.6. It hasn't budged. I'm sure it wavers throughout the day by some amount. My IntellipH is only running seven hours, so my pH must creep up a bit while it's off at night, then comes back down while it's on during the day. But my IntellipH runs at the same time my SWG does, so what was causing at least half of my pH rise is being addressed at the same time, in other words, the IntellipH has neutralized the rise caused by the SWG, which only leaves what my high-TA refills and plaster are contributing. So instead of my ph riding up and down 0.4 or 0.5 points, every day, it now may be only 0.1, if that. Does that make for better water conditions for plaster longevity? I'm going to pretend it does...

well lets see. water is very stable. . . .except PH. my SWG is handling itself well through the heat we are having. i didn't have to adjust it at all even wit the kids and family swimming. so that's all good.

joe is humming away on the brick. he feels good. looks good. is moving good. so that's all good.

and i'm wasting time with my brother in law figuring out a way to not work as had when we fish cause fishing is suppose to be about relaxing not working. we switched to kayaks a few years ago now cause we wanted to be able to get into spots boats can't reach easily. but the paddling is getting old. so we have been talking now for 2 seasons about powering the 2 man yak. finally did it the other week.

now he wants me off the boat so he has all the room! so i got to figure out a way to get a motor on 1 of the 1 man yak's now!

what i want is a factory feelfree lure with the built in power drive motor, but with this project that isn't happening any time soon so off to you tube and google I go.

here is what we got going on with the 2 man'r. works like a charm. we can troll again. we circled a large lake 3 times the other night. we got some kinks to work out when we land fish cause we lost a lot of fish cause of technique. you don't have all the room to move freely like on a boat when moving. it was awesome though. really really fun!

ya 2 of us fished on that. it's tight i won't lie. it's like 4 feet shorter than a regular 2 man kay would be. lol ya we got some looks from some big bass boats but the looks were soon to jaw drop when they saw our stringer doubled up on each hook with the fish slapping up against the kay jumping out of the water. lol it's not about the gear. it's how you use it. just like photography. you can have a 5 thousand dollar lens but ur pictures can still stink.

my cut from the night. lol kids had a ball eating them. i think i got a taste as i cooked. lol

my adventure of rigging the 1 man wonder starts thursday. my bracket will be in by then. today i got to find a battery that is light but won't break the bank. this project is about saving money not spending it. have to do a field and stream run also to get some other little odds and ends to make sure the bracket doesn't go flying off the back if the motor hits something also.

well lets see. . . update on my saga. a good saga at least. . .

i got my motor working on my kayak! it's pretty cool. we turn heads with the bigger bass boat cause they prob see us coming and they start to make fun of us, but then they see our yak's are leaning to the side cause of the stringer weighing us down with fish on it. lol one guy stopped us and actually said that's a pretty cool setup. he was laughing cause my brother in law and myself were zipping all around him. it's pretty cool. cheap easy setup till i can afford a proper rig.

we are still moving on the brick. we are at the one end of the building furthest from the supply so guess who gets to stack and setup brick. i have been trying to move at least 300-400 brick a night and stacking them in 6's so they can load the scaffolding easy the next day. when u carry brick u use these grippers that carry 6 at a time so you balance urself with 2 sets of 6 in each hand and stack them in towers so the laborer can just grab them the same way quickly. when they come out of the cube u have rows or 9 so it takes longer. i'm cutting down on the prep time pretty much. so right now i'm the mule.

working on getting the fence place out to get setup with that cause that is my next move.

I have seen pics of Jim's new fishing toy and must admit it is in fact very cool. My issue is that Jim has yet to share his bounty of fish...

Cant wait to see the finished pool house project as it will be snazzy for sure...

Well all bricks now moved. I’m waiting for a delivery of all the block for the fireplace and my privacy wall for the equipment pad. I’m going to try and clean up a bit today. It’s a war zone out there. I totally forgot how messy brick was. My neighbor had to literally hate me at this point cause thier staging area is the side of my house. By his driveway. I’m trying to keep somewhat of an order but between mud, sand, brick, mixer, the 2 foot thick pad of sludge that is building up it’s hard.

I see a cook out for them in your future!!!

ya next year! kim if i can get the kitchen framed up and bricked by end of season i will be so happy! i decided to not do the ceiling this year and push forward with pavers. i have to seal the wood before it gets put up and i don't think i'm going to have the time to do it. i'm thinking making this an early spring project in the garage wit the heat on and when the weather allows hove my buddy install. i do have to get all my beams wrapped this year so we can 'get soffits and gutters on. this way i can get all final graded done and pretty much be ready for landscaping with all my infinite time.

so frustration is taking a hold of me, not because there is no work going on, but because the brick is just a lot. we changed our brick count to 9,000 vs 7,000. they have been going at it everyday for 5 weeks now. it's just my dad's best friend and my buddy's kid as a laborer. I have been carrying brick only and i feel completely worthless I was telling cliff today. Everything else I have been involved in personally with me doing work but brick is a no go. so i'm on the sidelines.

so i decided to order my retaining wall and pier material to start that project with louis while his brother chomps away at the brick. that way I can pretty much got the fence in then. I need to have the 1 plantar and retaining wall done so we know where the fence will exactly be. we are going to do the piers and retaining walls and then joe will do the steps.

this is my material chapel wall by hanover. its a random mix pattern of 6 in ch and 3 inch stone. this material is way nicer than I figured. I only saw it in pictures. it was a blind purchase. the place we buy from don't have any on display cause i guess it's kinda hard to work with and it just cost a lot more than any other retaining wall material but I really like it and I didn't need a lot.

so i loaded up the work area and we are going to get a layout tomorrow and a game plan. then throughout the week we can chip away at it.

where all that dirt is will be a plantar bed. that allowed us to get the elevation we needed for the lower patio.

then a 10 foot long retain wall at the end of the pic to allow us to jump from the pool hight down to the pool house elevation without rolling any hills off. there will be 2 piers. one at each end to frame in the steps which will be brick and 3 inch limestone caps. steps were suppose to be same material as walls but we decided it was too much and decided to go brick and limestone like all my other steps for my outside porches. i'm glad cause i think it's going to be a lot cheaper even with me using 3 inch limestone for treads vs the retaining wall material!

you are all prob wondering where is the brick pics. i always have pics as we go, but I haven't been taking any cause it is a war zone right now and i'm twitches cause it's such a mess. but there is the back wall of the building with the 10 foot wing wall to hide my equipment from my neighbor while he is in his pool. aren't i a nice neighbor. lol it will have a 16 inch pier at the end and the top of the wall will arch from the building down to the the pier. should look nice. joe was even able to still give me my quoine corner. i'll have good pics when all done. the details are all coming together. it matches my house perfect. looks like joe did them both at the same time.

i'm really happy with it all.

Poor Jim, you just don't know what to do with yourself when it is a job you have to let someone else do the work. Sounds like you found a fix for that with the stone work. I love that stone. I can't wait to see the pattern you use!

Kim:kim:

Hey guys.

Thanks cliff.

Kim. Going totally random. My plan if ok with Louis is to use the 6 inch right across for bottom row since 2 inches will be covered by pavers height. That way we will have a very heavy base. Then go random after that.

Ya this is how I am. I always need to have a project. I don’t know how to just sit back. Even now as I type I just can’t sit in front of the fire with my wife. I’m going to go work on a lego with my kid. Lol

Jim, Jim, Jim!!! Sometimes I wonder what you will do when the outside is all finished! I know!!! I will move up by you and hire you to do all my projects!!! Hahahaha! Then I can enjoy your kids in person. Oh, and you and your wife, too!

Ok on the Legos tonight, but you'd better give your wife some attention, too!!!

My 6- and 9-year-old have been on some amazing adventures during their short little lives. But if asked, they don't hesitate: best all-around trip hands down: LEGOLAND. Have you been? Looks like you're not that far from one... Oh, wait. Check that. Not open yet. Coming soon...
