Hello to all my self sufficient friends in the pool world! Like you I strive to maintain my own pool and to minimize wasteful chemical spending and driving for testing and trusting a chemical sales company to help me maintain my pool. I previously was a lifeguard and maintained a gigantic gunite chlorine pool in mid to late 90's...just add lots more shock, muriatic acid or sodium bicarb!. Now at home with a small 22.5K gallon salt vinyl liner pool that I installed a Hayward Aquarite w/ T-9 cell into along with a Hayward single speed pump and an older S-200 sand filter, I'm learning an entirely new beast. Unfortunately the pool builder made the concrete lower than the surrounding areas and drainage into the pool is an issue with heavy rain/hurricanes(forget about it). I would say my pool floods with yard material three times a year, so I have to start from scratch each time as if I'm opening a pool after a winter! It's a bad design but I determined to make it work and am tired of the pool store selling me branded and shiny crystalline-like labeled or simple looking white bottles to emulate clarity and sparkly clean future, I find myself here. Thanks for having me and if you got this far thanks for reading!
