New leaking/shaking/noise

Yesterday, shortly after our pool service guy left, we noticed a new noise, a big leak from the main filter valve, and a rattling/shaking in the pvc pipe feeding into the chlorinator. I don’t know if they backwashed the de filter, but am wondering if something failed when pump was turned back on.

Two noises actually:
- a rattling by chlorinator like rocks in the pvc
- the pump is much louder than normal, different quality to the sound more like an ac unit

I’ve turned the pump off and called pool company (waiting for call back). But was wondering if this makes any sense to y’all.

Pool guy was probably here between 9 and 10 and we noticed the noise/leak shortly after.

Photo attached. The pad the de filter sits on tilts a bit. The pump is 6 years old.

Any ideas? Mainly wondering if it’s safe to turn back on, and if the pool guy could have caused this.

Generally, when pipes shake it is air going through after being purged from the filter. Not usually a problem if it stops.
Need to be more specific about where the leak is from.
For the sake of your heater it would be best not to use that tablet feeder.

Thank you @1poolman1. Pool service explained this as: Large crack on the back side of the multiport valve that caused a leak and then caused the pump to lose prime (and thus causing shaking). They replaced the multiport valve today and things look/seem good. I’m uneasy about the timing - they had a new tech who made some basic errors (leaving chlorine tab on the ground, not notifying us about major chem/algaecide usage) and it seems weird this leak came out of nowhere right after he came.

July cleaning/chems + multiport replace exceeds $1,000, and I’m going to have a go at maintaining the pool myself going forward.

Can you explain more about what you mean about the heater and chlorine tablet feeder? We the heater around 25-50 hours per year, usually 1-2 hours at a time.

There is no check valve between the chlorine feeder and the heater. Water from the chlorine feeder is highly acidic. If the pump is off, there is nothing to stop it from getting into the heater. Acidic water from pucks can damage the heater.
