New Intelliflo3 no power with voltage

I replaced an old Intelliflo pump today with an Intelliflo3 3hp. Plumbed it in and wired the L1, L2 and grounded and bonded it. Spliced the original comms cable to wire the green and yellow to Data-/Data+. It’s got water and is ready to go but there is no power to the pump. There is no light on the button on pump, even after pressing it several times. I’m getting 240v across L1 and L2. Any ideas on what to do?

Heres what I tried so far:
Set ET to VSF for pump 1 and GPM for pool mode. Schedules are still set.
Switched L1 and L2 wires, but both are hot so don’t think it matters.
Set to service mode to try and run manually but still no power at the pump.
Disconnected green and yellow comms cables and tried manually in service mode but still no power.
Called Pentair and the serial number is not in the known batch of bad drives.

Also some background info: The old intelliflo pump stopped working. The main breaker tripped, but not the breakers on the panel. The voltage across L1 and L2 was 244 but it wouldn’t power on through ET. The digital display didn‘t work on the old intelliflo, so I assumed pump drive or motor was bad at 9-10 years old and decided to replace.

Just got this reading. L1 was red and L2 black, same as the old pump. The probes were touching the wires right by the screws at the pump.

Shaw,

There can be plenty of reasons why your pump can't be controlled by your EasyTouch, but if the control head has no lights at all, and you have 240 volts when measuring between the L1 and L2 input to the pump, then the pump/control head has to be bad.

I think you already know this, but you must measure between L1 and L2.. You can't measure between L1 and ground and L2 and ground as this can give you a false reading.

Maybe the control head has just become unplugged from the motor.

Where did you buy the IntelliFlo3?

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes, thanks Jim. The probes were on only L1 and L2. I will open up the control head to see what it looks like inside in case something is loose, good idea.

I bought the pump online and the box was damaged, but on the the pump looked okay. I can return it but would rather try to get the pool back in service if possible.

Photos as requested. the top views show the pool in auto mode and in service mode. No lights on the on pump button.

Shaw,

I suggest Polytec..

You often get what you pay for..

Thanks,

Jim R.
I ordered the very same pump from Polytec. First pump came to the house and I refused delivery as the box was badly beat up. Replacement came and again the box was badly beat up; refused delivery. Was about to cut'n'run after the second, but talked with Polytec again and they used a different, closer, distributor and Fedex rather than UPS. The third time being the charm the pump has been running since before last Christmas. My experience with Polytec was very good. Would recommend and certainly use them again if the need arises.

Thanks for that info. Do you have Easy Touch and did you have to do any firmware updates after adding the pump? Just curious because our Screen Logic app isn’t controlling the lights after the install which is weird, but controlling the lights on the panel still works. Our Easy Touch panel is about 9 years old.

Shaw,

If your ScreenLogic can't turn your pool lights on and off, then you have lost your com port.

Can you get ScreenLogic to do anything?

As as side note, the IntelliFlo3 manual says.. "If the pump is receiving power, the ON/STOP button will illuminate."

Thanks,

Jim R.

No I can’t get Screen Logic to do anything. The breakers were off for a couple of days waiting for the pump, but it worked before that. It connects locally and remotely, and allows you to configure in SL Config. If you go to the panel, the changes made aren’t there so it’s not communicating. The green light is on and RX blinks amber periodically. What now?
