New house, New-to-me pool, new adventure!

Ok lots of pics... Ignore the swimming child [emoji23][emoji23]

This group is when it was laid out (dont roll it up just lay straight) you can see the one end that hooks into skimmer and the hose connects and then the end...

Now this group is with it hooked up in the skimmer and running in the pool... Notice the hose floats and crawler just "shakes" itself over the pool bottom

Love the swimming child. Great explanation and pics! You can also use the skimmer plate with your skimmer basket in place. That will help some of the larger gunk get caught in the skimmer basket. You do have the skimmer baskets, right?

Actually the skimmer plate doesn't work for me :( but I have a large basket in the pump holder too [emoji6]

I cannot use a skimmer plate either. I have tried and tried but no matter what I do, how high I have the water, clamps on the hose, etc the plate causes major air leaks or will not seal :( I am just VERY careful about what I vacuum up.

CUTE kid! "Don't mind me. I am going swimming!"

Hmmm. YS is right. Maybe your skimmer plates are too small in diameter. I actually keep my skimmer socks in too if I am just vacuuming dirt. Sorry we are side-tracking your thread, Blcnghtsky. Maybe the info will be useful as you WILL have a lot of vacuuming to do. BTW, did you find the skimmer baskets?

I did not! [emoji15] I may need to dig into where all of the pool supplies are in more detail... I was just looking at a skimmer basket at the pool store and wondering to myself.. "Does my skimmer have that? I don't think so!?"

Great off track reading... It's all helpful in the end, you never know what I will run into once I get started.

I'm enjoying following this thread. I hope to be working on our new-to-us pool, also foreclosure/2 years+ closed. We have 3 kids under 10, and no fence around the immediate pool area/open to whole yard. Fence is one of my priorities before removing the cover. I look forward to seeing your progress!

Seems like we have quite a bit in common! I just ordered our fence that will enclose the pool and separate it from the yard... But couldn't wait to take off the cover (just a big piece of tarp anyways, so not even that safe for kids..)

When I backwash, it goes to the street in front of my house. The DE stains the street and it either blows away, very dusty, or when it rains it gets washed away.

Using the hairnets does not increase my work load since I have to clean the skimmers anyway.

If your not interested, don't do it.
