New house, New-to-me pool, new adventure!

I did. Will go out tonight with it...

Made rookie mistake and while back washing didn't put hose in pool to counter water loss... Got water level below halfway on skimmer, started getting bubbles again... [emoji43][emoji850]

Filling pool.

Color actually looks different today for some reason, less thick Pea soup and more watered down pea soup. Curious....

I'll get a pic when I can.

Adding MA when kids are in bed, got 2 gallons, hope that is enough!

Nice on the color change! LOL on the water mistake! Been there, done that more than once! DUH! hehe

For the MA.......where are you storing it? Have we talked about how it and chlorine do not play well together? AND MA should not be stored by metal as it will cause rust?

With you having kids you should find a out of the way place that is well vented and away from little ones. Several people have a plastic storage container that locks to put it in.

Thanks for the heads up on the MA. Admittedly I did store it for a few hours yesterday with the chlorine... Ooops!

We have a cabinet in the garage that has a shelf that only I can reach (yay being tall!)

Just poured about 85oz MA bringing the total MA to 341oz to get this Ph down. Yeesh!

Will test in about another 20 mins.

Apologies MarianParoo for not getting a picture before it got too dark, your same name member of my family decided to be a little grumpy today.

Bam!

Ph: 7.2

Based on a low CYA, do you recommend I test to see about FC loss tomorrow when I am home (all pending what life throws at me tomorrow.)

also on the low CYA note, should I put the stabilizer in there to try to bring CYA up (realizing it takes about a week) while slamming?

What FC should I target for slam knowing my CYA is either less than 20 or possibly 0.

I'm going to throw a gallon of chlorine in tonight since it's dark and it will give the chlorine the best chance to do a little something

Yay!
Don't worry about FC "loss" right now. Your goal will be maintaining shock level.
Did you ever recheck CYA in the sun? If so, what was it? If not, do that.
I think you could add 20ppm CYA. Squeeze that sock intensely for a good while. I have gotten it all to dissolve in a half hour. Test was accurate for sure within 48 hours.
If you do the above, add your best guess CYA test number +20 and use that CYA number for your CYA in PoolMath.
If you give us all your current results we can check your PoolMath numbers to verify that you have everything plugged in correctly.

Well this was a pleasant sight to wake up to this morning! Makes me really wish I would have gotten a pic of the thick pea soup color!!

Poured another 128oz of my figured 11% chlorine before work. While it's not slam level it does appear to be doing something!

Tomorrow you need to test CYA (if it's sunny) even if it means taking 10 minutes away from Marian, et.al. We need to get this slam going!!! And once it's going, you will need that 10 minutes away to test and add chlorine after work. Then you can play with the kids! You need to test at least twice a day if not more during a slam. I'm nagging.... Sorry. You've done a great job so far, but it is time now to get serious for pool season!!!
Did you add another jug of your chlorine?
