I am a first time pool owner, second year with a pool... Never hired a pool company before and successfully went all year last year with no green water! I just ordered a Taylor Kit and going to try to stop using Leslie's for their advice. I feel like I got swindled last time I was in there buying some NOPHOS. I look forward to getting better and want to extend a thanks in advance to you all for help in the future.

Welcome to TFP! Well, at least you only had Leslie’s advice for one year.

This is the place to be. Great first step getting a test kit. I hope it was the Taylor K-2006C.

If it helps, they swindled you all the other times too. 😁 #never again.

Welcome to easy street. (TFP) We'll be your training wheels for as long as you need. For nothing but feels because we're all volunteer here. It's a pretty sweet deal.

Read up and ask away : Pool Care Basics
Download : PoolMath
Purchase : Test Kits Compared
Follow : FC/CYA Levels
Witness : How Clear is TFP Clear?

You need the test kit A) so you can test reliably and often and B) so you can stay out of FleeceVille.

The free version of poolmath works fine, but if you purchase the $8 (yearly) subscription (peanuts) you can track all your results and spot trends before they go south. We can see them too and have many times reverse engineered or head off a problem before it happened.

I downloaded it, but haven't dug in yet and at $8 a year I'm in for that for sure. Thanks for the advice, my kit comes this week. I've never been more excited to test my water for some reason.

It's legit fun once you realize how simple it is and the puzzle pieces start to fall into place.

Be forewarned though. When you dump that 2000 piece puzzle box on the table, it's a bit overwhelming. Not gonna lie. :ROFLMAO:

Take it one stupid simple line at a time and it's laughable.
