New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Yes, bought in 2012, but I only ran it during the Summer, as I covered the pool November to April. Also I always took it out after each run and cleaned it out, and kept it in the garage between uses to keep it out of the hot sun. I did have to replace the bag about 3 years ago as the original developed holes, which cost me $35. I did try to fix it this time but to no avail, so decided to splurge on a new unit!

Any suggestions on what to do with the Nitro? The bag is still OK and so are the other components. Might be good for parts. I hate to just dump it!
Just be happy you had a robot that lasted more than 5 years:D

Yes, I know. I also drive a 2000 model PU truck. I like things that last, and can be easily repaired. But I know those days are over. Our new dishwasher failed after 5 years, the previous one lasted over 20 with a few simple repairs along the way. Based on what I read here I don't expect this new EVO to last as long either. :(

So today it picked up every leaf except two, widely separated, although in fairness they may have fallen during the cycle. There was plenty of room left in the filter. Hardly any material fell out when I pulled it from the water. although I did use the levelling technique mentioned here. No tangling of the cable so far. I notice that unlike my Nitro, this machine does not run in reverse for very far. It does a quick 180 and proceeds forward. Overall it seems to do a very good job, and better than the Nitro, with the exception of the filter capacity.

Has anyone here purchased the caddy? The power outlet is 20 feet from my pools edge and id rather not have a 20 foot cord across the deck constantly. I'd probably run the bot once a week.
I didn't purchase the caddy but built one from a harbor freight hand truck. Built it for my warrior see but it works just as well for the evo. The control panel doesn't work as well in the box as the warriors did but it fit

Last question, I have golden retrievers that live in the pool. Anyone have experience with a lot of fur on the bottom and the unit? I see most are happy with the purchase. 27 pages of people talking.

I just replaced my 7 year old Dolphin S300 with a new EVO 604. I didn’t want or need Bluetooth control. I was surprised to find that the power supply clips right on my old Maytronics cart. The unit seems to perform on par with its predecessor. Its longevity is yet to be determined. So far so good.

A question to those of you who have the fine filter, or have tried both … is there a reason to not get just the fine filter?
Will it have issues with large debris ? I tend to hard a decent about of leaves but also some sediment. Just curious why the regular filter would be needed at all if the fine would handle everything
Thanks …
I find that the ultra fine filter clogs if there is a lot of fine silt in the pool. I generally run the standard filter to remove debris and once in a while the very fine one after debris has been removed.

I'm probably missing something, but how will a caddy solve your cord problem?

Love it! One of my favorite stores.

Got the unit yesterday, ran a clean cycle and I was expecting some sand to be picked up but this little bot picked up and filled the basket with about 3 inches of sand. Quite impressed. I ended up running 3 clean cycles as it missed some other areas. It ignored the bench and doesn't care for the sunshelf, which is okay. I can brush the sunshelf, stairs and bench quickly. How do you guys handle the spas? Do you manually vacuum your spas?

The only thing that I'm concerned with is the iaqualink app tells me that the firmware update error and to contact support for assistance.

My 604 from marina comes today, hopefully this one lasts longer than my pentair SI I bought from them

Question…. Who leaves theirs in the pool? This is what I did and eventually some moisture got in, but here in AZ it gets stupid hot in the summer and I am worried it may dry out even in the shade

I leave my bot in for the whole 7 month season pretty much. It runs every day.
My nautilus cc which was a refurbished unit lasted 3.5 years. Thats alot of runs.
I replaced it with a gently used proteus which is basically the same bot and saved the nautilus for parts.
I believe @Jimrahbe leaves his bots in all the time. Even his new evo.

I have two rent house pools where the Dolphin robots stay in 24/7.. At my house, my older S200, and now my newer EVO, both come out after the cleaning is done, or the next morning..

In my case, I see no real difference in their failure rate, in or out, doesn't seems to have much effect. I only remove the robots from my pool, because I don't like seeing them in the pool.. Just a personal thing for me..

Thanks,

Jim R.

That's good to know , I just unpacked mine and it's busy cleaning as we speak

So far it seems to work well, I have a lot of leaves in the bottom so I'm running it on bottom only then I will run it again

I’m in Tucson AZ and my robot is stored in the shade on my patio between uses. Even with our extreme temperatures and year round pool use, my last robot lasted seven years. An autopsy found that water has seeped into the motor housing and shorted the PCB. I believe less time in the pool = longer service life.
