New Dolphin Active 40 - leaves clog inlet

I've had this for about a month, and loved it up until yesterday after a storm blew through and left more debris in the pool than typical - mostly green live oak leaves. While it hasn't had a problem with a "typical" day's leaf drop, if it hits a spot that is dense with them (which is much of the pool at the moment), they clog the inlet before even making into the basket. Live oak leaves are very small, but also very thick/dense, so they don't really "give" much. However, none of my Polaris pressure side cleaners had any problem at all.

Thoughts? While this was a fairly strong storm, that amount of leaves in the pool isn't necessarily uncommon when it is actually leaf drop season. As is right now, it's basically useless.

Welcome to the forum.
Your option is to remove the black 'sock' that traps the debris in the cleaner when you pull it out. You will lose some when you pull the cleaner, just be sure to pull it out quick.

Or use a leaf rake to remove the bulk of leaves before running the cleaner.

76,

When you have a lot of leaves, take the 'sock' at the bottom of the filter basket off and see if it works better.

Robots are not really meant to clean 50 lbs. of leaves..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks! I actually came to that same conclusion, then came back to check the thread and glad there is concurrence! Also plan on getting another flap, cutting the down the sides a bit more which should let it open up a bit more as well with less stuff going back out into the pool when done.
