New DIY IG Pool Build Pittsburgh PA

Welp. If it helps any, now is the time to be finding this. A million times over, now is the time.

Yep I agree! I’m going to blind flange off the faces of the main drains and pressure test the entire system once I’m done. I’m just worried water froze somewhere else and compromised piping in the main drain system. I poured a bunch of coolant down before I plugged the drains, but you really never know. Pressure tests don’t lie!

Actually triple. He oofed, you responded in kind, he added a third, but now you added two more. There are 5 oofs (dangit) now 6 of them. :ROFLMAO:

2nd set of main drains. I can’t win. I must be tightening these too tight. 1st set I ordered the wrong size, second set I cracked both sides. 3rd set I cracked the right one. 4th times a charm. I’m going to count how many spins it takes to get this set off and just do 1 less rotation. IMG_2539.jpeg

YOU need to read this (see LINK below)...will help you with threaded fittings.

  • Don't over-tighten joints by giving them "one more turn to be sure."
  • Do finger tighten plus one or two turns - No More.
  • Don't wrap Teflon tape or Teflon paste or pipe dope to add bulk to or to lubricate the joint.
  • Do use a sealant for threaded joints.
  • Don't use "stronger" Schedule 80 threaded fittings on the assumption that they may solve the problem of splitting through over-tightening.
  • Do use only Schedule 40 threaded fittings with Schedule 40 pipe and fittings.
  • Don't over-tighten.
  • Do finger tighten plus one or two turns.

Concrete forms for the patio are done. I went with 1/4" slope per foot to ensure proper drainage. I did notice that after pouring the concrete collar or from the winter freeze, one of my walls had a slight bow to it (+-1/4"). Barely noticeable to the naked eye, so I dug up the stone to expose the turnbuckle and got the wall straight again. Getting there!

Hopefully I can get the township over once I get the rebar/bonding grid in so I can pass inspection and can pour.
