Hi All,
We're about to sign with our PB for our new pool build... Here's the gist of it. We're planning to add SWG as well just haven't received the updated quote. Anything you'd change or something I should look out for? Thanks!

Hi neighbor! Everyone here will tell you to not get the Globerites and get Microbrites. We got Intellibrites but Microbrites are what most people do. You also may way to rethink the in floor. They are expensive. Wet had one in our last pool and chose not to this time. They don't really clean anything but just push the dirt around. We always had a dead spot too. The new thing is a robot. The nice thing about them is that they scrub the walls and floors for you.

Welcome to the forum.
Get part numbers for all the equipment. Post them here for us to review. For instance, the Automation should be an Intellicenter with SWCG included.

Top,

It is very important to get the actual part numbers so we can compare apples to apples.

It is also very important to know what you want your pool and automation to do..

As an example.. you have 7 different lights.. If you want them all to be the same color at the same time, you'd only need one relay and one transformer.. But.. If you want to individually control each one, you will need 7 relays and 7 transformers.. I'm sure you will fall somewhere in-between, but you need to tell the pool builder how you want the system to work, so that the pool builder can install the automation that meets your requirements.. Once things are installed, it might be impossible to have the pool operate the way you want.

What water features do you want to be able to control with your automation?? How the plumbing is done makes a huge difference in what your automation can and cannot do..

The design of your automation system needs to be done before any plumbing or wiring is even started. If not, you will end up with the pool your pool builder wants, and not necessarily the pool that you want.

Thanks,

Jim R.

What water depth are you expecting?

Where are the depth measurements on the drawing based on? Middle of the skimmer, which would be water depth, or top of bond beam, or top of coping stone? If not from the middle of the skimmer your actual water depth may be 6” or more less then the 36” to 72”. You may have a 2.5 for depth.

Even a 3 foot depth is too shallow for swimming.

And will that 2’ high “jumping platform” actually be used to jump into 2.5’ of water? That is not safe.

Yesterday our automation (Intellicenter) was programmed. The guy said the panel wasn't big enough to do everything. He was trying to hook up the waterfall to be controlled by our phone but there wasn't room. So he asked if we wanted to control the spa and pool lights separately or have them come on together. If we had them turn on together then there was room for the waterfall in the panel. That was a no brainer to us because we would want all the lights on at the same time and even if we didn't, that was a better option than not being able to control the waterfall. Just something to think about that we didn't until too late. We did owner/builder though so we could make that decision then but I don't know how that would work with a builder.

With the IntelliCenter you can buy an expansion card with more relays. You ran out of high voltage relays. That is @Jimrahbe point about planning out the automation and figuring out how everything will be connected during the planning.
