New build in central Texas

Yeah, liquid is my fall back plan.

Here are my pre-rebar plumbing.

I need a load of sand brought in so I can set the drains properly. Then rebar.

Just so you know, the 2" pipe running between the two pool drains has been slotted on the bottom every 2" and is connected to the hydrostatic pressure relief plugs.

I initially thought I would plug one and have a relief plug in the other, but by connecting the two this way, I can make sure the two drains are in the same plane.

Thinking of using some of these from the top of the arbor just for fun. These are a lot cheaper than the deck jets I used to have.

With these adapters.

They don't have the internal fins (I assume) that the deck jets do, but for the price I don't think I care how smooth the stream is on a water feature that is second to all of the other ones I have planned. This would be just to mix it up a bit.

Just posting my idea.

Yes, the lid centers are filled with plaster to match the pool finish. I just have to remember to have them on site during plastering. They are 20" diameter and smooth with the bottom of the pool. One single drain is all that is needed for VGB compliance. I have one single one centered in the spa like a bullseye and one for the pool. The other pool one is a dedicated feature drain.

Well, I ordered a load of sand for Saturday, but the truck broke down..... no progress this weekend.

On another note. The framer abandoned the house part way through. I think he was too busy and I was not his priority. Hope to start a new framer next week.

I am optimistic that after Easter good things will happen. Hopefully I can get steel put in the week after Easter.

Plumb the following weekend, inspector the next week, the gunnite. That is my hope.

So, since I am not making actual progress, I have been working on design progress. I moved the fire pit away from the house to be in code compliance. It is a wood pit with gas starter. It is centered between the lighted bubbler scupper bowls.... that I plan to cast myself.

The fire pit will look kind of like this..... maybe not as nice since I am tiling it.

This shows the patio fireplace and out door kitchen area. Again, I am building the kitchen. This project will take over a year to finish.

Very nice. One constructive comment I have is that for such a large area, you have very little uncovered poolside decking close to the house. Where do you envision sitting poolside out in the sun?

One thing about this layout is that it is deceptively larger than the 3D model looks.

For scale......The spa is an 8' spa. The covered area is almost 2,000 sq ft and the uncovered is almost 1,000 sq ft. The area on either side of the fire pit is around 10' from the water edge to the grass. That should be enough space for 6-8 lounge chairs. A couple of years ago, Khols had lounge chairs on clearance for $50. I bought 8 of them. I had less area around my last pool and they all fit without being too packed. In Texas, shade is more valuable than sun area.

Well, made a little progress today. I packed my drains in sand and set location, angle, and height. Then filled the pipes with water so they stop floating away. Then watered the sand and re packed it. Ready for rebar now.

Also, my new framer starts Monday, so we are off to the races again.

6" on your sundeck will be a good depth. I almost went to 9" on my sundeck and my PB said that would be a steep first step into the pool. Like you,
I have a 3HP VS on my two bubblers and 4ft sheer decent. I should be able to easily achieve 18" above the waterline with my bubblers.

Some progress. I hope to have steel done this week.

It looks like the pool dig missed the depth all over the place.

My spa right ow will be about 42" deep in the middle. Thinking of keeping it that way. Should I make the benches deeper or leave them and dangle feet?

Also, considering making my shelf closer to a sloping 6" - 12" shelf. I would need to possibly make some under water peninsulas for the bubblers to get them close enough to the surface to work. Any thoughts?
