New Build - Frisco, TX

Thanks a bunch!! I'm surprised wet edge is uncommon there. I looked at your build and your pool looks great!!

D

Thanks, D! Some installers use wet edge here but it's few and far between. The product isn't manufactured here so it's more expensive to deliver. We have Diamond Brite, Florida Gem, Qaurtzscape, and Premix Marbletite manufacturing and distributing centers within 10 miles of our home so those are the standard go to for the local PB's.

What did you decide on the Stenner? I didn't see it installed in the last picture of the pool equipment? I installed mine a couple of weeks back, was going to do a quick write up, but haven't yet. All of my information came from this great site, but still might help someone else to have another review.

Do eat supper out there every night and drink your coffee out there each morning?? That is SO Pretty!

We spend every minute we can outside. We love it! Building a new pool and patio was a great decision. No regrets.

Thanks, R

By the time we REALLY understood the benefits of adding a Stenner we were too late in our build to include it in the original equipment put in by the PB. Once things calm down we do plan on adding one. I would be interested in reading your write up when you post it.

Thanks, R

How deep is the water on your tanning ledge? We are struggling to come up with that depth in our plan.

The water depth is about 6". So far it has been great for us! We wanted to be able to sit in chairs and get our feet wet and let the dog cool off in this heat. :)
The ledge to coping is about 9" so it's not bad stepping down into it either. Hope this helps!

Thanks,
D

Your build look really good. I like the river rock in the flower beds. Have you done this before? I am considering the same thing but wonder if it will be too hot for this Texas sun in unshaded areas...

Transition from a "orderly and neat" flower bed full of soaker hoses to a bed full of Texas native plants.

Can't wait to see how it will look when it has a chance to settle in and reach full bloom.

Thanks, R

Thanks for the kind words!!! Yes, we have pea gravel and lots of rock in our front flower beds too and have for about 3 1/2 years. We wanted something different and more "Texas" looking without bushes and mulch. I did have to choose heat tolerant plants and have had to learn what survives and what doesn't. The drip irrigation helps and also planting in the spring to let roots settle in before the heat helps. I also choose perennials so I don't have to dig them up and replant them... Unless I change my mind on placement (which I am notorious for ;) ) If you would like some names of the plants in the backyard just let me know!

Thanks, D

D - I would appreciate any suggestions you can come up with. My build should be completed by the 30th and I would like to put down just a few things to dress the pool. I will wait till next spring to go full force. There is a link in my signature if you have time to take a peek....much appreciated Texas neighbors.
