Hello,

I am considering self-installing pool automation (have experience with electrical and electronics installations) but am not sure which Pentair system I need to get.

I ahve the following:

Inground Pool and spa w/spillover)

Pump - getting Pentair Intellipro VSF installed (in 2-4 weeks)
Heater - Sta-rite Max-E-Therm
SWG - Pentair Intellichlor (IC-20) with external power supply
Pool Lights - ColorSplash XG LED in pool and spa
External Lighting (future)

2 valves required for spa control

What Pentair automation control panel do I need to be able to control these items? I want to also install the ScreenLogic 2 Interface/wireless kit.

Thanks so much in advance!!

Cheers,
Bert

EasyTouch 8. Be sure to get the one with integrated SWCG power center (comes with the SWCG cell).

What volume is your pool? In Florida be sure your SWCG is sized for at least 2X your pool volume, preferably 3X.

Can you add a signature? See Pool School - Read This BEFORE You Post

Bert,

Since you have a Pool and a Spa, you will need one of the "Dual Body" units... A "Single Body" system would be for just a Pool...

You do NOT, under any circumstances, want an EasyTouch "Lite" They do not have a load center and have few functions... If they have an 'L' in the P/N they are the lite version as in PL4 or PSL4..

You could get away with the EasyTouch 4, but most people, including me, wish they had gone with the ET 8.. The ET 4 has 4 relays, the ET 8 has 8 relays. One relay is reserved to control the power to the SWCG, the other relays can be used to control external things, such as booster pumps, spa blowers, additional single speed pumps, landscape lights, Pool and Spa lights. etc..

It appears you already have an IC20 and power supply. Unless your pool and spa is less than 10K gallons, that is way too small. I recommend that you buy one of the two units linked below...

Here is the ScreenLogic kit you will need... https://sunplay.com/collections/pentair-easytouch-control-systems/products/pentair-screenlogic-interface-and-wireless-522104

mknauss, thanks for the reply. I work on the signature after I'm off work and can get the correct pool info (don't know it by heart lol). I'm pretty sure the IC20 is what is currently on the pool, will check that as well.

Hi Jim, thank you! I'll recheck the size of the SWG to be sure. in any case will I have to get rid of the current set-up with the external P/S for the SWG? Or it is just more convenient with it incorporated with the ET 8?

Unfortunately I don't know off the top of my head (I think 11,000 gallons?? but not sure). I'm currently at work (unfortunately).

Correction: it is 11,000 gal + the spa (which if I remember correctly was around 400 gallons)

Get the screenlogic2 interface too
It can be hard wired to the house network box from the pool running a coma cable or you can get the wireless link. Being able to use your phone or computer is to me a worthwhile feature and time saver

Bert,

Having the integrated power supply just gives you a cleaner look... With an 11K pool your current IC20 will work, you will just have to run it a little harder. If you do get the IC40 ET, you can power your current cell with the ET... Then, when your IC20 bites the dust, you'll already have an new IC40 to replace it..

If you do not want to invest the extra money now, you can buy an ET without the salt system... See below...

When u set it up. It isn’t very hard it but the pentair doc isn’t the best. The thing we missed when my buddy and myself did mine was the fireman switch for controlling the heater in easytouch panel or on the app. That pet wasn’t real clear. U will have another 2 wire low volt over to the top part of the panel from the heater. It’s what tells the heater to actually kick on when u set temp. It just wasn’t clear I fell. Everything else was easy. Remember to read the wiring for the salt cell to filter carefully and it will be ur first relay.

For the wireless control portion (to be able to control from my phone), is there anything additional to the Pentair Screenlogic Interface & Wireless Connection Kit for EasyTouch & IntelliTouch Control Systems | 522104 needed?
