New AGP Pool Pump (15 x 54)

Those numbers/amounts are based on the rating plate information only. It takes a true watt meter to know exactly how much power you are using, but these types of estimates are usually very good, if maybe on the high side.

If it makes economic sense to you to go with the Waterway, that is a good choice. You would, eventually, make up the difference in energy cost with a VSP, but that depends on how you use your pool system and the cost of power. It could take years.

Thanks My Friend. I will PM you.

Well i have finally decided to make the upgrade. Thanks to @1poolman1 for all his help in answering me all my questions.

I have dialed it on the Black and Decker 1HP or the Waterway Power Defender 140 1.4HP with a difference of $170.00 between both. As i will be retaining my Cartridge Filter 100 SQ FT will the 1.4HP be too much for my pool? Or which one will be a better fit for me?

I am inclined on the Waterway because i think it is not bad to have much power and in the future i can upgrade my electricity connection to 240V to improve electricity costs.

Obviously, i don't have the knowledge to justify if it is overkill for my needs so there is where you EXPERTS come in play.

Thanks once again.

Just seeing this for the first time and @1poolman1 has been KILLING it. Way to GO man !!

The VS pumps never have 'too much HP' and instead dial down to whatever you need. The larger pump will move more water (flow) at the same RPM as the smaller pump, which allows you to run the bigger pump even slower, for more savings. At that point, it's not nearly as big of a savings as it was switching to VS in the first place, but still. Every little bit helps, right ?

I also like the bigger pumps for some future proofing. You may end up with a larger pool next time and the bigger pump will be ready to go.

Thanks @Newdude for the feedback. Every penny is worth as overhere in PR in the last year the KW has increased 7 times so who knows how many more. No respect with us.

Yes he @1poolman1 has have a lot of patient with me. Jajajajajaaj

@1poolman1 , @Newdude Hope everything is OK.

I wanted to update so you can see that all your effort was heard (Jajajajajaja). I finally received the Black and Decker and waooooo you guys hit the nail with it. No noise at all and at 1600RPM it is only consuming 4AMP.

Very happy but as you know nothing is full 100% easy i had to install it with an old Hayward Cartridge Filter C-50 i had from my previous pool. The Waterway Cartridge Filter connection that goes to the Pump can't be removed and the screw pattern is unique for the Waterway Pump exclusively. Went to HD and to 2 Pool Stores and they don't carry any adapter of that type. Also called Waterway and they confirmed that they neither carry it as it is made for the pump. My Goodness. I attached a pic just in case you have any idea.

Pool Part To Go sent me 2 converters 2 1.2" for the Waterway but they are bigger and doesn't fit the Nut of the filter. They said they don't carry another size which i assume it should be 2". They fit on the Pump but not in the Filter connection. Attached are pics in case you know the name of this converter to see if the Internet help me.

In the other hand and just in case i can't reuse the Waterway Cartridge Filter which is only less than a year what you guys recommend me:

1. Stay with the C-50 and buy a new Cartridge and Pressure Gauge which is a downgrade of the Waterway 100SQ FT?
2. Buy a new 100 SQ FT Cartridge Filter and hook it with 1.5 PVC instead of tube?
3. Keep or sell the whole package Waterway?

Thanks once again.Waterway Conector 3.jpgWaterway Conector 2.jpgWaterway Converter.jpgWaterway Cartridge Filter Connection.jpg

It's common to have proprietary connections on pool equipment. My pentair stuff was unique even between parts. The 2 inch heater was different than the 2 inch SWG 🤦‍♂️

Can you cut more pipe out and then splice the pipe with the old connection still attached ? It's much easier than finding new unions to an old device, if you still have them.

If there is no other choice but to buy new, I'd go as big as you can afford, but it's real.easy for me to spend your money, so I get it if you want to keep trying.

Thanks Buddy. The spot is tight but i can do it. The problem is how will i connect it to the Cartridge Canister housing connection.

If i go new then of course will have to make space for it and should include cutting pipes and wood floor i made to hide the pipes.Whole Pic.jpg

Maybe cut at the red line and rotate it to splice it near the blue line. That might make the inlet more manageable with a similar redo.

Perfect. It's a plan. Actually if i don't find a connection tomorrow and go with a new one i will be using the upper connection instead of the side connection of the new pump with a removable connection just in case i get another surprise replacing equipment.

Thanks my friend..

Update @Newdude ... The Pool Store after several tries with some couples found that a Check Valve has the same screw pattern for the Waterway Cartridge Filter and also have a adapter for a 1 1/2 Pipe as an outlet which will be connected to the Pump.

Seems that i have work for the Weekend in order to redo the Pipes and connections and some trips to HD getting Unions, Disconnect Valves, etc.
