Need to wire in SWG but want to remove in the winter

I’m getting ready to finally install my Edge 40 SWG but have to figure out how to wire it so that I can remove it in the winter. My pool pad wiring is extremely basic, just one outlet with a switch over the top of it to turn the pump on or off in an outdoor plug enclosure, there is no timer installed. Since we live in New Hampshire I think it would make the most sense to bring the pump & SWG control panel inside every winter for storage.

The pump is 110 with a standard plug receptacle plugged into the outlet but the Edge 40 has a pigtail designed to be wired into a timer. I’m wondering if I can install a plug in receptacle on the end of the Edge 40 wiring, replace the current outlet with a dual outlet for both the pump & SWG then install a timer in the basement where the pool pad wiring enters the house. Does this approach make sense? I’m trying to avoid having an electrician come in to do the work since I’m capable of basic wiring, plugs, breakers, etc.

I forgot to add that I also have a smart WiFi outlet that I can use instead of a timer & thought about setting a schedule with the smart outlet instead of a timer.

I don't see any issue wiring it with a plug for easier removability. Just ensure the SWG only gets power when the pump also has power. In addition, make sure everything is bonded, including the SWG. And when you plumb it, plumb a union before and after the SWG along with a dummy piece to install when you remove the SWG. You'll need to get 4 of the same union to do this.

I have a new Edge 40 SWG to install but the wiring to my current pump is extremely basic just a single outlet in a weather box with a switch that my pump plugs into. Currently the pump is running 24/7, I turn the switch on or off as I need to backflush but running the pump all the time isn't help my electricity bill so I want to integrate a timer or schedule of run time. The next issue is that we live in the North East so since the pump is on a plug vs hard wired it can be brought inside over the winter, installing a timer means I have to hardwire the pump not allowing it be easily removed in the off season. So when thinking about installing the new Edge 40 my original thought was to put the plug on the end of the controller so I can bring it inside over the winter with my pool pump. I called Circupool & they said there is no problem putting a plug end on the Edge 40 control panel, the flow switch acts as the safety back up even though I have read here that you still want an additional back up like a physical timer. Now that I'm thinking further I think I want to install a smart wifi plug in the outdoor enclosure along with a manual light switch to kill power to the pump when I need to backflush vs using a manual timer & having the smart plug work with Alexa to set a run schedule. Anyone see an issue with this thought process or any other pitfalls to be aware of?
