Can anyone tell me what this is ? First time having a pool, and the company who opened it, did not do a very good job. The pool apparently doesn’t have the correct cover ( just a tarp with weights, the tarp had sunk to the bottom ) so they wouldn’t drain the pool because it’s fiberglass( with a concrete pad over the edge) so they took off the tarp, vacuumed( tech was days new ) and shocked and they left. My brother is here ( mom just passed ) and he’s very experienced with pools. We have done everything to this pool short of draining it ( we are renting and homeowner keeps telling us to give it another day, it’s been 11 days) all of this has been on our dime. Anyway… it has some light grayish junk on the bottom but if you try to vacuum the bottom is just disperses like a dust cloud. We’ve checked chemical balance and it’s good…the water is clear if it stays on the bottom but you start the pumps and then the water is cloudy. We’ve taken water samples to pool co, they say water balance is fine. We’ve shocked, tried vacuuming, running pump and cleaning filters 3x a day and we can’t get rid of it ! Please help ! Give us something new to try ! I’ve spent 1,000 on this pool already and it’s not even my pool !IMG_7970.jpeg

Welcome to the forum!
You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF-100/Pro or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.

While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool

Welcome to TFP!

We can help you clear up your pool, but you do need the correct test kit to do so. We'll need to know what type of equipment you have to help answer some of your questions. Please take a some time to complete your signature.
