Need help with valves

Hello -

I recently got an error on my system saying no flow on the SWG. I looked at my valves and noticed that that automatic Jandy on for the return seems opposite from what I thought it was before for my Pool only mode.

When it is on pool only the spa filter is running, and when it’s on spa only the pool return is running.

Not sure how they got reversed as it’s on an automatic system. But now my pool is becoming less clear as the SWG is not running.

Any help would be appreciated!

Joe,

The actuator has a little 3-way switch. On - off - On. If the valve is working, but 180 degrees off, just move the little switch from one on position to the other on position.

This assumes both valves are moving when you switch between the Pool mode and Spa mode. But, the position of one of them is not correct.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Joe,

The little switch was only going to fix the valve position.

In your pic, the Intake valve is in the Pool mode, while your Return valve was in the Spa mode. You need to fix that regardless of your flow problem.

Most times when your SWCG reports low flow it is due to a dirty filter. If your MPV has a 'recirculate" position, use it to by-pass the filter and see if your low flow goes away. If it does, then clean your filter.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Hayward SWGs use a separate flow switch. Don't see yours in the picture, though it may be under the return-valve actuator. If so, follow the line to the SWG control panel (automation?) to be sure it is not damaged or unplugged. Also, why is there a water-temp sensor in the line coming from the heater? Not real accurate that way.

Thank you all so much. Not sure I can speak to the plumbing and cabling. Was like this when I moved in.

Attempted the switch change and now the return and intake are flowing correctly. However still getting the no flow for the chlorinator. This is after putting on recirculate.

Thanks!

Joe,

If you can feel a good flow of water retuning to your pool at your "eyeballs", then the problem is most likely the flow switch that tells the salt cell that it is ok to run. I suggest that you follow the suggestions of poolman in post #6

Since the flow did not get better in the recirculate mode, go ahead and put the system back into the filter mode.

Thanks,

Jim R.
