Need help in clearing up cloudy pool. It has been a month with little success!

Your calcium level does not matter in your pool.

Focus on chlorine and pH.

It will continue to stay cloudy until you can perform a proper SLAM Process
That is the only way to eradicate algae. Until then you’re just dumping chlorine & hoping so you should just add your target level of chlorine for your cya FC/CYA Levelsdaily until your kit arrives then post the full results as soon as u get it in. We’ll be here😊

The only way to lower calcium is to exchange water. When you get your kit you can test the fill water you use for TA, pH, and CH, and see how that will affect things over time.

Also when you get rain, you can lower your pool by dumping a little and letting the rain refill. That will help over time as rain won't have any CH at all.

When is your test kit due in? :)

Thank you. Someone posted yesterday that calcium doesn’t matter in my pool. I’m so confused! Calcium has remained high for awhile. Once I get my kit.. Should I drain a little.. if so, how much? And just test our well water prior to filling? Or have it brought in locally? Other than backwashing, how is draining actually done? I know that’s a dumb question.. just have never done it yet!

Vinyl doesn't need calcium to remain in good condition, but PH is very important (those are unrelated to each other.)

Run a full set of tests (except CYA on well water). It's practice and necessary info :)

Depending on how fast you want to drain, a hose siphon will drain the pool or a sump pump. Leave 12" of water so your liner doesn't shift on you

It doesn't matter if your calcium is too low, despite what some pool stores will tell you - that only matters to plaster/gunnite/etc. pools.

If it's too high it can cause scaling and other problems, so it's still good to know what it is.
