Hi all,
We just had our design meeting yesterday for our pool and after looking at sooo many options, I need help with figuring out what would look good together for our design. I want a peaceful, backyard oasis, with some ocean, or tropical vibes.
The interior of our pool will be PebbleSheen French Grey.
We plan to have a paver patio that matches our current patio(has greys, tans, oranges and black) but I have no clue if the offered coping will look good with it.
- For our coping we plan to go with “tumbled blue stone” or a basic charcoal colored bullnose brick. Which would look best?
- I am trying to decide between NPT Key West or NPT Barbados Aqua for waterline tile. Both are beautiful but not sure if they’ll go with French Grey and all the grey in my patio.
- we are thinking of adding some sort of mosaic (we both love sailfish so thinking about that in particular, or a couple of turtles instead) in our shallow end but not sure if that will look silly or out of place?

Thankful for any opinions and expertise on design. I have no clue what looks good together lol
Pictures attached
1. Pool shape/rough design
2. Waterline tile Barbados Aqua
3. Waterline tile Key West
4. Someone’s pool with the bluestone coping option.
5-7. Mosaics we like
8. Our current patio.

It all looks good. I don't think you have a bad choice in the mix.

@kimkats will be along to help shortly.

Well hello there!!! What a fun by scary time in your life. I am so glad you found us to help you spend your money LOL

I want to talk to you about your pool design. The outline is a good one basic one. One thing I would change is the steps and bench in the shallow end. I would move them more towards the house. The reason being is if you move them you will have a good "swim lane" from one end to the other.

What kind of water depth are you thinking of?

Waterline tile-LOVE both of them. The biggest thing to think about with them is the variation each of them have. You are going to need to dig through the tile boxes to find the "ugly" ones and hide them so they will not be use. Then pick out the really pretty ones to be use on the wall everyone will see when they come out to the pool.

Now lets talk about the planting area on the far side of the pool...............yeah not a good idea. It ma cause a mess in your pool with dirt and *stuff* going into the pool. If you want something pretty over there I say some nice, pretty, large stones with some metal sculptures to add to the beach ambiance.

I like the turtle the best. I would look into getting a couple more. One to stand for each member of your family!

Coping-That does look the most "beachy" so should look good with your overall scheme!

Hi! Thank you for be so willing to help me spend my money on this adventure 😉
I really like your idea about moving the steps/bench, my husband actually mentioned something similar to have the ability to swim from one side to the other. We are still deciding what exactly to do with that area with the plants, because as you mentioned having any kind of dirt etc would just get into the pool. I’d love to put some rocks and maybe some VERY expensive metal palm trees, but I’m going to need to pick up some extra shifts for those to be in budget lol
Great idea about picking out the prettiest tiles! I never even thought how some might be uglier since both of these styles have such variation in colors and patterns.
Thank you so much for all of your advice. It’s hard to think straight with all of the options out there!

Pick up some shifts...............are you a nurse?

I have been thinking about the plant area. I just noticed something I did not think of before. You should just do the decking and coping instead of the "pretty stuff". The reason is you will want to be able to walk there to clean the pool or for the kids to run/race around the pool.

Yep, I am! So I could pick up quite a few between now and when the money is due lol I think we’re going to sit down and look at some different options for that area. See what it would look like as finished versus putting something decorative there. We have to be a little creative because of our driveway combined with the amount of patio we already have, we can only add so much to the pool, because of the size of our yard and the amount of permeable surface that’s required for our area.

I like both of the tile options. The Barbados option looks similar to what we picked for our new pool which was the Premier Stone Cabana Emerald (CT-CAB-684). We had considered the French Grey PebbleSheen as well but ended up with Granite Blue instead since we wanted something a little darker but the French Grey is nice!
