Hi all! I'm a new pool owner and with the help of this site, have been successful in opening and maintaining the pool all summer long. Closing the pool, however... has intimidated the heck out of me, and honestly I've been procrastinating it. I was going to use this long holiday weekend to try and tackle the job. However, I've been monitoring weather and for weeks it was predicted to be warm here (northern Alabama) this weekend. Then, last night I was noticing that temps are going to be dropping into the twenties starting tomorrow night. So, I went from having 4-5 days to figure out how to close up the pool in 50-70 degree weather (lows and highs), no now having about 24 hours before temps drop to 20-45 degrees for the next 7-8 days. After that the temps jump back up. But, I don't know if I need to do something today... or if I don't do anything and it will all be okay. If the pump is running, will this keep the water from freezing? or should I do something today to prevent problems? What can/should I do at this point to keep my equipment from being damaged by these cold temps? Thanks in advance for your help.
