So our pump finally kicked the bucket at the end of last season, and we're looking for a replacement. Previous pump was Hayward 1 HP single speed. I was thinking from some articles that I've read that going to a variable speed pump would be a good idea. Problem is that our setup is wired at 115, and it seems like most VS pumps are locked in to 230. Just had my electrician stop by, and running a new line will probably run me about $500. If the savings from a VS pump are significant enough, that would be worth it. The problem is I can't get a good idea of what size pump I would need. Our previous pump was basically just a replacement for what was here when we moved in, but I don't know if it was ever sized correctly.
Finally, I notice that the VS pumps have built in timers. Does that mean I don't need a standalone timer wired in?
Thank you
