First time pool owner, filled gunite pool in March. Purchased the Taylor 2006c kit and have become proficient using/interpreting. The question is, what do I do with the results if we want to manage on our own? Most of the pool apps don't allow you to lower the chlorine range to 0.5 - 1.0 as recommended by the manufacturer (Zodiak) except the Pool Doctor app. I've been using it and comparing to X's Grok AI, feeding it all of my pool specs + results + kit used + acid strength, etc. etc. but other than the acid, the dosing recommendations don't match. It also doesn't tell me when/qty/dial setting for the trichlor tablets. I have read enough to know that most people are not fans of the Nature2 but our 25+ year experienced PB has been installing this system exclusively for the past 10 years likely because of rebates :( and didn't give us a choice so we want to try to make it work. Any and all advice is welcome.

Welcome to TFP.

You need to decide if you want to use TFP pool care methods or methods from others like Zodiac.

You always have a choice. It is your pool, not your PB or Zodiacs.

I will simply tell you they do not work long term. If you want to give it a try we will be here when you look for a better way.

You have come to/ stumbled on the answer to your pool questions. TFP doesn't espouse the use of minerals regardless of what any pool builder swears by. This forum is science based and focuses on the chlorine/CYA relationship to keep a pool clean and sanitized. No chlorine tablets, no pool stores, no weirdly low FC levels dictated by a manufacturer. Just science facts. Read through the following links to understand how this can help you. You'll find the recommended PoolMath app to be more conducive to tracking your pool than ANY AI bot.

Thanks for this info. We are going to remove the mineral cartridge. Can we just cap it off

Thanks to all for the info, which is concerning re: the use of minerals. We are convinced it is just a marketing ploy so will remove the mineral cartridge and cap it off. What's ideal for chlorine dosing? The trichlor tabs in the dispenser OR liquid chlorine? Advantages/disadvantages?

A good read. How to Chlorinate Your Pool

Saltwater Chlorine Generator is typically the easiest and cheapest.
Liquid chlorine is great but must be added EVERY DAY.
Trichor (pucks) can be used if you are willing to drain 50% of your pool water every 30-60 days.

The ideal choice is a saltwater chlorine generator (SWCG). Trichlor isn't sustainable due to excessive CYA buildup. LC is sustainable, but it's inconvenient and expensive. SWCG is by far the cheapest, easiest, and most convenient way to chlorinate.

SWCG sounds ideal and something we'll consider down the line. If we ditch the Nature2 Fusion inground all together now (remove tablets and mineral cartridge) and move to liquid chlorine (which is manageable for us), do my chemistry numbers need to be in a certain range first and/or do I need to test for minerals at any point? I have the Pool Math app installed and ready to go. How much chlorine can I expect to use daily/weekly?

In your climate, you will use 3-5 ppm FC per day. So on average about 64 oz (1/2 gallon) of 10% liquid chlorine per day during swim season.
