I just signed the contract to get my pool remodeled. I decided to keep a thread here to track progress and lessons learned.
It's been quite a process already, through the summer learning about pool finishes, etc. and dealing with quotes. I decided to go with Wetedge Primera Stone Blue Pacific after much deliberation. Yeah I picked almost the most expensive option that was quoted to me. I plan on being here forever so it's worth it to me to have a higher end finish with a longer warranty. One thing WetEdge does well is putting up a lot of pics and videos of their finishes, so you get a feel for what they are like.
I've learned that looking a pool finishes is mind boggling. Not like the old days when you choice was white or white. The sample pics and videos are great, but the reality is there are so many factors that go in to the color you see: ambient lighting, time of day, surrounding materials like tile, coping or even trees, depth of water etc.
I've learned that there are pool building companies and pool remodel companies, but most don't do both. And the one that does came out and did their whole thing, but never bothered to send me an actual quote! And the one I went with calls themselves a remodeling company, but really they sell replastering. Anything else I talked about, like tile and grout, coping clean up, they just outsource it to someone else and don't really want to talk about it that much. I've had to do a lot of research on my own to figure things out.
We start draining on 11/8 and demo day is 11/11. I'll post some 'before' pics.
More later on the coping problem when I have a guy out here to look at it.
