My Pool Chemicals Are Mixed Up Outside—Is It Safe?

Hey all, I need a little help!

My pool chemicals were always stored neatly in the storage room, and the pool maintenance folks took care of it. But a few days ago, the storage room leaked, so I moved everything outside—just threw it all together in a big mess. I saw chlorine tablets, pH increaser, alkalinity adjuster, algaecide, shock treatment, and metal remover , etc., all piled up in the yard. Now, I’m worried some of these might be dangerous if stored together. Does anyone know if mixing any of these could cause a problem? I want to make sure everything is safe until the pool guys come back.

Sounds like a perfect time to downsize and take a big load to the local hazardous waste facility.
All you need to routinely store is some muriatic acid.
Anything else is on an "as needed" basis, and that will only be one or two times a year. If ever.
Maybe keep the tablets, if you will be going out of town for a week or two, and want to use a floater to add CL rather than have the pool run unattended.
The LaMotte test kit is known to be wildly inconsistent from reading to reading, and it has been discontinued anyway. Buy a TF-Pro salt kit from TFtestkits.net. Fire your pool company who was selling you all sorts of things you don't need (especially with a SWCG), and find out how really easy pool care can be.

You can, and have come to the right place for any and all help. You'll find that over all you will end up spending no more than 1/2 hr per week on your pool. And that $$ you paid the pool company can go toward a lot of other cool fun things instead!
