I keep getting iron stains. Spot treatment with Ascorbic acid takes them off, then they redeposit.
Rather than sequestering every week, I’m thinking of just using my pool water to water my lawn (which I need to do anyway), and refilling my pool with fresh water, thus exchanging a few hundred gallons per week.
Thoughts on this process? Would it be better to do the Acid spot treatment before, during, or after the water exchange?
More details... my City water is around 0.02ppm iron. I’m pretty sure the iron In pool water is from some contact with rebar in the pool shell - my pool is on a hill and there are a number of spots where there are mineral deposits on the outer wall of the pool, so I’m assuming it can also contact rebar.
The water has been in the pool for 4 years and I assume it’s just been accumulating iron in that time. My calcium is just below the upper end of the range too, so this would help with that.
Pool is correctly balanced. I keep my CYA around 40. Chlorinating with bleach (not SWG). I would switch to tabs to keep the CYA up while replacing water, monitor it to switch between bleach and tabs depending on cya concentration.
