Was the pump running for 30 minutes after adding water, before taking the test sample?

First, I would get your pH down to about 7.8. Reduce pH in .4 increments using pool math. Test 30 minutes later, if necessary, reduce again by .4. Do this until you reach 7.8.

Everything else is good. Keep your FC in range, 9-11 for your CYA. Link-->FC/CYA Levels. Just remember that 10+ FC invalidates the Ph test so let it fall below 10 when you want to test Ph.

Adding 8 oz acid now (31%). May lower my TA and then it will be too low. How do I raise that without a pool store?

Sorry guys I know I’m overthinking this maybe but then again my pools usually went sideways on me. I’m trying to follow the program here….i really am not sure where on the scale this color is. This is 45 min after adding 8 oz of acid. Any help?

lol now I have I too low. I’m just gonna leave it. Enough for my first day with the chemistry kit. Other than aerating the water how would I raise ph without going to the pool store?

Great job. Go SWIM!!!

A consistent background is key. To get good backlighting, hold the block in front of your computer monitor/tablet/phone with a blank white screen displayed. Also, try holding the block sideways or upside down. Sometimes that helps distinguish colors better. I also use two old hotel keycards to mask off areas and narrow down my decision.
