My first closing…advice please

Location… Northeast Pennsylvania

—i have a 20’x40’ vinyl lined pool, most calculators say about 35k gallons
—2 jet returns and 2 wall skimmers in the pool
— see the below photos of my filter set up and cover type

I moved into this house on August 1 and this is my first home with a pool. Pretty much all I have done is add 3 gallons of liquid chlorine every Friday evening. I have not utilize the in-line chlorinator yet. Water has been crystal clear. I do not have a test kit yet, feel free to recommend one

Please let me know the proper method to close the pool, and when to begin the process. I see a lot of acronyms used on this site, please refrain from using those for the time being since I do not know what they mean yet

if you have any reservations, i always reccomend paying for a service the first time. When the people arrive, tip them $20 each and tell them you need to learn the system. The $20 each is to improve their attitude about somebody shadowing them, and it does wonders. Trust me.

Anywho, shadow them and take 500 pictures and watch them in reverse for the opening procedures in the spring. Next fall you will have an opening under your belt, watching a Closing, and 500 pics to help you repeat it.

I do not have a test kit yet, feel free to recommend one

I suggest the TF-100 / TFPRO or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.
