My AquaSport 52 Build

I've very much enjoyed your build so far and been impressed with your work. Well done! :goodjob:
Any chance there is a bathroom in that side building?? Sure would make things easy for those quick trips.... dripping wet...

More pics!

Thanks for the kind words...
And to answer your question....no there is no bathroom in there..... yet ;) But you make a great point and I think I will incorporate that into my build. I was planning on putting a sink in the tiki bar up on the deck, so since I have to run water out here anyway, I may as well run a sewer line out there also......maybe even some gas ;)

Anyway, thanks for the idea! that's a keeper ;)

So I was shopping for some steps and I found some at various pool supply houses both online and brick&Mortar....most were in the neighborhood of 400 to 500 dollars...then I thought I would take a looksie out on Craigslist just to see if there was anything out there...and I found these for $85.00 !!! I couldn't pass that up...even if they were wrong... ;) Turns out...they are the right size and absolutely nothing wrong with them. But....they are DIRTY!!! arghhhh so I have a question for the group...does anyone know what product I can use to clean up resin plastic steps? Anything I can use to restore them?

Anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

I’d hit them with a bleach solution. It doesn’t really matter what you use, as long as you rinse well before putting them in pool.

I used tons of bleach on my Confer steps before putting them in my new pool. They were gross on the inside from the old pool.

Just got pointed to your build and I'll probably have a bunch of questions BUT I think I can be helpful to start actually: If you never got those stairs quite clean, take a mr clean magic eraser to them.

Great build!

Sorry folks...it has been a minute since I posted anything with regards to my build. I have actually been awaiting lumber prices to fall back down. :( But good news...in our area (Louisville KY) lumber prices have fallen considerably ....so here we go. I have resumed construction and have begun planting a total of 40 - 36"D X 15"Radius concrete piers to support 6x6 posts for the deck. Let me just say....I have ENORMOUS respect for concrete workers now. Right up there with public safety officials (Police / Fireman / EMS etc...) and Iron Workers... (maybe not for having an extremely dangerous job like those folks).....but more in terms of EXTREMELY HARD work.... Concrete workers are definitely at the top of the list!

I can not put in words how intense the back-breaking work of mixing 110 80lb bags of concrete with a mixer is.... especially on 92 plus degree days here in Louisville o_O This is certainly not work for the timid...that is for sure...and at 57 years old...I am extremely worn out from it....and this is coming from a guy that works out 4 times a week normally.... arghhhh

It will take me a minute for my back to recover and get my normal golf swing back in place ;)

Anyway...here is some pictures...enjoy!

Thank you for the Mr. Clean / Magic Eraser tip....I actually used both of those and I also used my pressure washing. They came out spotless and now they are in the pool. ;) Thanks for the kind words and good luck on your build...let me know if I can help!

Which skimmer are you using. The skimmer that came with my Aquasport is against the wall directly under the top rail. I have to lift and slide out the skimmer cover but there is no room to remove the basket. In your pics your skimmer basket is about 1' from the wall.
Hey Phishwaves...my skimmer is a Hayward In-Ground Skimmer/Return Kit. I bought it from Swimming-Pool Discounters. If you get one from there...ask for Bob...he is the one the put me on to the in-ground skimmer idea. ;) I will have to dig up the model number and post it here. I bought an in-ground skimmer because I am building a deck around the pool. I wanted the skimmer to be flush with the deck floor.

I hope this helps and like I said...I'll dig up the model number.

I was able to find the skimmer it's a hayward 1097. Since I already had the skimmer put in I can't change it out because the holes do not align with the bigger skimmer so I'm stuck with the smaller skimmer until I change out the liner at some point.

Since we have the same pool I have another issue that started after I filled up the pool, the top coping on both of the long sides are bowing out about 1-3" If I take a level vertically it's out about 2"-3" from the top to the bottom in the middle of the pool. Wondering if you have the same issue and if this is normal or if maybe my side supports have settled a little and is causing the bowing.

I really enjoy seeing your pool build progress, It has given me some ideas for when I started my install. please keep the updates coming.

Thanks for the kind words...yes I will keep the updates coming...in fact I will be posting more pictures here in a few days ;) As for your bowing issue, I did not experience any bowing issues on the long side. My questions would be...1. What kind of soil are you working with? Clay? Sand? Regular dirt? 2. Did you place your buttress supports on "undisturbed" earth? 3. Did you use blocking under the supports?

Is there any chance to go back and look at the buttress supports or are they backfilled and inaccessible now?
