Hello to all,

Went away for 3-4 days and family did not add bleach on a regular basis, and the pH was in the 8.2 range. Read where algae as a whole thrives in more basic 8.2+ waters.
So, I added enough bleach to the tune of 25-28ppm and lowered pH to 7.2. Then vigorously brushed every sqin 2-3 times and ran pump on high setting. Been keeping pH in 7.2-7.5 range and CL 5ppm+ after 2 days of 20+ppm...

I did not see any algae growing on the pool waterline, sides of pool or skimmer intakes, but when I brush the bottoms, it looks like dirt or pollen being brushed from floors. Is this dead m-algae or is the m-algae growing on the bottom again? I have not done any OCLT's, but when I have been keeping the CL PPM around 5ish post heavy CL treatment, I do not have any of those 0-1 or 2 PPM's readings bc of CL consumption. We have also had a lot of storms in Houston and rains from 2" to 1" on a regular basis for last 1.5 mo's [not complaining about the rains] so dilution may be an issue too.

Thank you and pls advise,
tstex

Note, when I had the high chem levels, I rain the scupper pump for 30 mins to flush those lines real good.

You know what to do. An OCLT to confirm/deny its algae and then SLAM if it is.
