I went to add muriatic acid to the pool today and the whole rim of the bottle and underside of the lid has turned black. Does anyone know what that means?!?

Is that the jug the MA came in, or is that milk jug that you transferred it to...?

If milk jug, the acid attacked the foam in the cap and turned it black.

You should leave MA in original jugs...

Glad you asked this. Ours does this almost all the time (left in the jug it comes in). I assumed it was normal due to the potency of the MA? 🤷‍♀️
I figured out it was due to the lid that came on the jug. I got a pack of four so i checked one of the other jugs lids, and the piece of paper/plastic that’s in the top of the lid has a silver sheen to it(and i couldn’t get it out). They were out of stock of the acid I normally get and those bottles aren’t like that. So I put the lid on from one of my old jugs and everything is fine now. Maybe there’s some metal content in the lid insert and the black is a reaction from the acid and metal🤷🏻‍♀️
