Muriatic Acid and TA

Hello- trying to get PH and TA right. Current readings are:
CYA 60 (will bring this up to 70)
FC 3.4 (will adjust for 70 CYA)
CC .2
PH 7.6
AK 110

I purchased muriatic acid to lower PH with the hopes to bring Alkalinity down.

The acid doesn’t have a percentage on the bottle at all. Should I stay on the cautious side and use 14.5% strength?
Plan was to lower to 7.2 and have the kids play around in the water. Will that work from an aerating stand point?

I would not do anything as long as your pH is 7.6, which is perfect!!

As long as your TA is 50 or above and you are not having any issues with pH, I suggest you just leave TA alone.

I suspect that acid is 14.5%

Bringing down TA is not a once and done deal. It is a process that takes me about two days.. Over a long period of time, adding TA will gradually bring your TA down.

According to the pool calculator TA should be closer to 80, 90 max. Is that not relevant if PH is a bit higher in the 7’s?

pH is fine anywhere in the 7's.

Ok i was trying to lower the alkalinity and thought I needed to start by lowering PH. Thanks.

For the record, that muriatic acid is 20%.

My TA stays high since my fill water is high also. I just keep my eye on my pH and because I run my water fountain everyday, I’m typically adding acid every 4-5 days which automatically knocks my TA down. Like Jim was saying, as long as your pH is fine and your TA is above 50, it’s not an issue.
