Mini Max 300 Pilot lights but igniter keeps running

I have a Purex Triton Mini Max 300. When I turn it on I hear the ignitor clicking, and can watch it start the pilot light, but instead of the igniter stopping and the main burners lighting, the igniter just continues to click until eventually the unit turns off. I can see a very strong pilot flame. Is there some kind of sensor built in to the pilot? I only see a single wire running to the pilot assembly. Any help appreciated, I'm trying to limp this old heater along until next year.

How did you clean the orifices? You can take a little piece of wire and go through and clean out every orifice. If you have a multimeter you can test the vac across mv mv/pv pv on the gas valve. Mv opens after pv if it’s good it’s a gas related issue.

I took the pilot off and it was a bit "twisted". Straightened it out and re-installed and it seemed to do the same thing. Installed the side cover (as I had been watching it) and left it alone for a few minutes and it fired up.

Lightly clean that corrosion from the area above the flame. That is the flame sensor and it is not sensing flame well because of that coating of whatever it is. Clean the "spoon" that spreads the flame as well. Glad you got it working, but thhis3is preventative maintenance.
