Milky white water after gritty substance removal

Sorry thom, I am summer camp coordinator and today was work! ;-) Thanks Kim for answering. You're making progress. My pool is also surrounded by trees, although not as many as yours are close to the pool. I had no idea how important it was to keep the pool clean of all the debris. I'm a lot more vigilant about cleaning skimmers now, and when I find a dead critter (mouse or baby bunny, or large frog or even lots of bugs), I add a gallon of bleach to help out my SWG.

I just put the two pics side by side and there IS progress! I want you to look at the two pics. Look at the steps! You can see the second step MUCH clearer! The water color is lighter as well!

You are doing it!

The less organics that are in your pool, leaves, grass, bugs, etc, the less hard your FC has to work. Anything in the pool, including people, signal the chlorine to WORK! That was a big aha for me! When your pool is clear, it's still good to get in the habit of upping your FC before and after bathers, too.

Ohhhh you need to use pool math! It saves on your chlorine expense too. As you track how much pool math asks you to add each time, you should notice it going down. Also having too much chlorine in your pool, can be bad on your pool equipment. Absolutely start using pool math!! [emoji5]️

Well now, that's the point of testing and using pool math for your dosing. Go easy there. You're not too crazy high but no point in wasting your chlorine by adding more than necessary to keep yourself at SLAM level.

OCLT is ok, but not really necessary until it's time to think about ending the SLAM and you know you're not there yet because you still have cloudiness.

I'm glad you're starting to see some good progress though! Lucky you with the cartridge filter. Much faster than sand! :)

OH happy test! That is awesome! Keep it up! You will be doing an overnight test just because you will test right before bed and right when you get up. Have you tested for your CC yet? That would be interesting to see.
