Hello! Hoping this awesome community can calm my fears! Have owned a pool to 10 years plus now and never had any problems until this year! I have a vinyl 18,000 gallon pool. Live in OK and leave pool open all year round. I use Pristine Blue for my maintenance and usually never have a problem. This year life got the best of me and I am late to the pool open game. I fear I have black algae on my textured steps. I assumed it was just dirt and pollen. My son started regularly brushing the pool at the beginning of May and noticed it wasn’t coming off. It has been a very rainy spring as well, so it has been difficult to get the pool balanced. I have blasted it with shock, scrubbed the steps a lot and used a black algaecide. The spots on the steps now look a very light tan. Is the Black Alge still active? Are these stains? We do have lawn maintenance done where I could definitely see some pellet’s getting into pool.
