Has anyone heard of a temperature rating for vinyl liners? I have an inground vinyl liner pool and my pool supplies store owner (also was the builder) insists that I need to keep my temps in the mid-80s or lower to keep from ruining the liner. I'm having a hard time finding anything online to support that claim. I like to set my heat pump to 88 and let the sun (and solar cover) take the temp up to the 90-94 range (for therapeutic reasons, bad back). My initial thought was that the water temp can't hurt the liner more than the direct sunlight all day -- but he's been building pools for 40 years, and I'm just a regular dude making a guess. I'm wondering if his claim is just bad hand-me-down info or something that he committed to repeating. Thanks in advance!
