So for once, I can offer some help back to this board. I am a certified Industrial Hygienist. I hope this helps.
McK, thank you so much for this great info. Personally, while I do fudge my own MO at times, I'm a firm believer in being extra careful, especially with the acid. I've already burned my pebble and my deck. I figure it's just a matter of time before it'll be me. I'm only getting older, and fatter and slower! Some of the damage you can do to yourself cannot be "taken back." It's one thing to cut yourself while mis-handling a kitchen knife, it's something else to burn the soft tissue of your eye with even one errant drop of muriatic acid. I think some here don't realize that getting a little on your hands with no ill effects is not the criteria to use to determine how dangerous this stuff actually is. Maybe that's just me?
I also wonder if exposure to these chemicals is cumulative. I didn't damage my hearing in one go. It was decades of small bits of abuse that has done me in. A few years in front of the guitar amp. How many concerts? Power tools? Etc. I think they all added up. Do tiny whiffs of MA add up?
This is what I purchased for adding MA to my acid dispensing system's storage tank. I'm outside, but it's kinda nestled in a corner of the yard, which inhibits the wind a bit, and I have to stand over it for a minute or so at a time:
Amazon.com: 3M Safety 142-5303 Safety Half Facepiece Disposable Respirator Assembly, Organic Vapor/Acid Gas, Large: Industrial Scientific
And this is what I wear for my eyes:

My gloves are something generic. "Heavy duty" household cleaning gloves would best describe them, I don't think they have any sort of industrial designation.
Even with all that on, I still get a bit of a twinge of MA in my nose when I'm standing over a jug emptying into the hopper.
I'd love to hear your critique, which might help answer the concerns of the OP...
