Drain & Filling pool

Looking to drain and refill it.
This is an opportunity to measure the actual volume of your pool. Note the water meter start and end readings and subtract average household usage.

I do not have an SWG.
I would highly recommend one, especially for Phoenix.

Now is the perfect time to jump on the TFP bandwagon by following the links that @Newdude posted for you. You'll thank us later.

I just did mine two weekends ago. A pump rented from Home Depot emptied our 11k gallon pool in about 5 hours. Remember that the last water goes faster as the pool gets smaller. It took 2 days with two hoses to refill it. Then I dumped one gallon of 12.5% chlorine in and started my initial 4 lbs of CYA in a sock in front of a return. It took 4-5 days to get all 4 lbs dissolved. Check your FC daily and keep it up to 5+ ppm each day. As the CYA gets dissolved the FC will hold longer. Test your PH too and expect to add some acid in the beginning. I put 1 pint in on day 2 and have added 1 cup every other day so far. This weekend I will better plan my water balance taking into consideration the new TA reading, lower CH reading and if I still need to add some CYA (expected because PoolMath said I needed 5 lbs.) Good luck with yours.

By the by, we confirmed our 11k gallons by taking the water meter readings at beginning and end of fill.
