Ok .. I am a new home owner with a pool! First pool so learning as i go. We bought the house to do an immediate renovation. Including getting the pool resurfaced along with changing it Saltwater. Its been about a year now and for the past couple of months I have been dealing with algae. I can not for the life of me hire a pool person for this pool as what im told is saltwater is low maintenance. So paying someone $80-$100 just check levels and scrub- nah I can do that. But the algae started within a year of using and could not get rid of it. I scrubbed nothing. Scrubbed with stainless brush, nothing. Rubbed chlorine tablet, nothing. I did everything and levels could not stay. I would get it perfect and the next week its off. Finally took it to Pinch-a-penny and had told me that my salt is really high, that something is off. Told me to check out the Jandy unit and maybe its broken. Went home and checked it out and sure enough it was on “Standby”. Pressed the power butting and changed to “Chlorinating”. I am a handy person but something like this I had no clue about. And was never told any different. They just installed it and said “see ya”.
So if anyone is ever having issues and is new to saltwater pools, check your unit that it says “Chlorinating”. On standby, it wont create chlorine from the salt. Also check the water at the salt cell (the clear cover from Jandy that the water is flowing through) that there is bubbles in the water.
Also, does anyone know if theres a lock on the Jandy that i can do (in the program or box).. i have a small feeling that the pool guy next door put it on standby because it was "chlorinating" in the beginning. Also slipped his magnet business card in my pool patio.. hmmm
Cheers
