The general forum advice to lower TA is to lower pH to around 7.2 by adding muriatic acid, and then letting pH drift up through aeration or other means.
However, I have not been able to get TA below around 120. pH drifts up fairly quickly due to the SWCG (probably exacerbated by the high TA) and aside from the spa jets, there are no water features to aerate the pool. I am just trying to get a better TA balance to reduce the amount of acid I need to add each week.
Instead of letting pH drift up due to SWCG operation, am I better off turning off the SWCG and forcing additional aeration independently while trying to adjust TA?
Fill water with a moderately high TA is probably contributing to the problem, here in the desert southwest.
