Lowering pH to get TA between target levels.

Currently, my TA level is 150 (already dropped from 200 originally). It is recommended from my reading here to lower ph to 7.0 or 7.2 with MA then airate to raise ph back up to add more MA.
My question is, is it ok if I want to lower ph below 7.0? No one is swimming in the pool, and won't be for several days. If lowered below 7.2, is the only adverse affect is that the pool is then unsafe to swim in?

Below 7 pH you slip into the acidic range and can start damaging equipment.

I see no reason to rush. Each time you lower pH you also lower TA a little. It'll come down over time. As it says in the How-to article, "You shouldn't lower TA just to reach a target number."
