hi

I replaced my single speed pump with a calimar variable speed pump. After wiring up I got a low voltage E-8 alarm.

I am not sure how to troubleshoot this. I took some photos of the intelliconnect box as its wired. This is how installer wired, I didn’t change anything. It looks like the same relay as the pump is powering the salt cell too. Is that normal? Anyway any advice would be helpful.

79,

Do you know if your pump is being powered by 240 volts or 120 volts?

I know what the colors of the wires normally mean, but often the wires colors do not reflect how things are actually wired.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I have not checked with my meter yet. Based on the wire color I was assuming it was 240. I can look at the old pump as well to see if it was only a 120v. This is a single breaker 20amp in my box. Not sure if that makes any difference.

79,

Show me a pic of the breaker(s) feeding your pool equipment..

Black and white wires generally are used for 120 volts, but almost anything is possible.

Your IntelliConnect "appears" to be wired for 240..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Your CB is 120V.

It looks like your electrician is switching both the hot wire and neutral.

So you also need to move the pump white wire on the LOAD2 screw to under the LINE2 screw.

You did not move the pump red hot wire to LINE1.

You can simplify the wiring by removing the jumpers from the first and second screws to LINE1 and LINE2.

Then put the pump red wire under the first screw and the pump neutral white wire under the second screw.

That frees up RELAY2 for future use.

Ok so I moved the red wire but same error.

Use your multimeter and measure the AC voltage between LINE1 and LINE2 of Relay1.

Only do what you feel safe doing around live voltage.

The Calimar VS pump is 240V only and will not work with your 120V setup.

You need to get a different pump or rewire from your CB to the pump.

Yea I just ordered a cheap 200$ 2hp pump to finish the season. I will get someone out to give me a quote on pulling actual 240 out there from my breaker box. I’m sure it would be a few thousand.

Remember to rewire your SWG Power Center for 240V when you switch the pump to 240V. You do not want yo forget and damage the SWG.
