Hey everyone

I have an Aquarite SWCG and can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. When the pump is running my generator is fine on numbers. We don’t typically run the pump at night. Each morning I come out to check and the number on the generator is low, this morning it was about 1800, the check cell and low salt buttons were flashing. My cell is one year old, it could be wonky but I don’t think that’s the problem. Salt levels are a tad low but within recommended range at 2700. I’m so frustrated by this. Any help would be appreciated!

ah,

The SWCG's power center should never get power when the pump is off..

It is a two part safety system.. The Primary safety device is that all AC power should be removed from the power center when the pump is off. The Secondary safety device is the flow switch.

Cells can explode if left on.. Does not happen often, but does happen.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Wow. I have absolutely no idea what could have happened. I went to look at my device and the flow switch is plugged in. I had this problem last summer, too. Thanks for your help. As far as the timer, this is something I’m going to need to order and doesn’t come standard with the generator?

Also, I went to pool school and read what I could find on SWCGs. Is there any other info on the different diagnostics that the machine shows or should I just refer to the manual?

Leave the switch in the Off position until you can get a new flow switch.

Make sure that the flow is enough to actually activate the switch.

Make sure that the filter is clean.

You're lucky that it did not explode.

The combination of chlorine gas and hydrogen gas can essentially turn the cell into a pipe bomb.

Another question: can I theoretically just shut the swg off when my pump is scheduled to not be running..? I’m reading that the flow switch is a safety mechanism and not meant to be the primary means of shutting off the generator? Is that right? How do I go about setting it up on a timer?

You need a working flow switch.

Set the timer to turn on 30 minutes after the pump is on and to turn off 30 minutes before the pump is off.
Yes but I can’t rely on the flow switch to turn my generator off, right?? so I need to wire a whole separate timer just for the generator?? I’ve ordered the flow switch and have the generator turned off until it gets here. Just going to manually add liquid chlorine. But I’m confused about the timer. Is there a recommended timer? My pump doesn’t work with my generator
